What advantage will this have (besides perhaps higher raw clockspeed) over other embeddable 64 bit cpus? MIPS chips have been 64 bit and low power for over a decade.

This has been an overemphasized issue for as long as I can remember. If society could care for the boomers when they were children and dependents (in the 1950s), and our ecomony is stronger now then it was then, we should have no problem caring for them now.
One way we could insure our seniors are really being provided for would be to lift the cap (the social security tax is only taken out up to a certain income level) on social security. We should also make capital gains and other methods of earning money other than raw wages be taxed for social security, since the wealthy earn more money with these methods then the poor. The rich should pay their fare share. Univeral health care would also be a boon for seniors who need expensive drugs or surgeries. Of course my stance on healthcare and social security, although supported by the majority of americans, is miles to the left of Bush or Kerry.

It's perfectly possable to tap an electrical communications (cat5, co-ax, whatever) cable without interfearing with the data being sent using low tech old school electronics. You just physically tap off the line in parallel, hook up some kind of low power operational amp and some recording || grepping device. You try to draw as little current as possable while doing this so you don't disrupt things (voltage will remain the same on the other end since you are in parallel with the line). The ability of a quantum computer to crack crypto rests on unproven assumptions from information theory regarding complexity classes and has nothing to do with measuring the electrical high/low pulses that make up ethernet frames and thus ip packets or whatever you meant by what you were saying.

Since Debian runs on more architecture than any other major distro, and Knoppix is Debian based, it should be fairly simple port Knoppix. How cool would to be to be able to run Linux on any mac, RISC workstation, or server with no installation?
