Does this mean that those of us on asymmetric lines don't have to throttle BT uploads to stop it choking downloads because the HTTP packets would be given priority?
THe complaining is the waiting not the free ride. Naruto is on ep 119 in fansubs now, even if DVD releases start today it'd be years before they come close to catching up.
NB, this is not a comment on the legality issue nor justification, but a correction of an assumption.
Ah but there are two problems with so over simplifying this:
1. A far greater number of anime series are being released.
If 5% of anime is the expected big hit variety and 20 series are released in a year, and a fan can buy maybe 4 series a year, there will be 1 smash hit, which he will buy, with the other 3 purchases spread over maybe 10 of the mediocre series.
Anime becomes more popular, and 200 series get released. There are now 10 big series, the fan can't even buy all of these, let alone the mediocre ones.
2. American companies are getting better at picking the really good series.
With the market as competetive as it is, picking a good series is a lot more important, in the old days any anime was better than no anime. Not only are there the Japanese viewing figures to take into account but fansubs are important too. Regardless of your opinion if overall they do more good or bad, they do create a fanbase for the series before anyone has even liscenced it, an active English fanbase shows that it's a series that will do well. An anecdote from Newtype USA with some American company director was that thanks to fansubs Naruto has become the most expensive anime to liscence because everyone knows it will be a massive hit.
So because of this, not only are there more releases, which means more hit series, but also a higher percentage of hit series.
The reason the mediocre anime sells badly is because no one has the money to even consider them. Most of the purchases are likely to be people who have come to love the series because of the fansubs.
Actually many people have more incentive becaue they know it's a good series, and feel a moral obligation to get them, my DVD collection is mostly anime that I'd already downloaded (Evangelion currently on its 2nd round of purchases too).
Pi (which apparently was based not even on a book but on an actual number)
Pi better than the original? I doubt they even finished reading pi before they made that movie.
Actually the reason that Deus Ex Invisible War was so limited is because they wanted it to do well on Xbox, the game is a shadow of its prequal, taking out all the things that made it special as opposed to "oh, another FPS".
Don't know if it's true over there but in the UK physicists are some of the most employable people around, those investment banks tend to pay pretty well too.
It isn't illegal until you find the RPAA (Randy Pornographers Association of America) knocking your door down because you've been illegally downloading 13-doggie-hot-sex-judy392.jpg, and as they drag you away lecturing you on how you're stealing money from these poor artists.
You're missing the grandparent's point, which is that since most digital music players can't play AAC anyway, they would still have to be recompressed to MP3 so time taken is the only difference with burning to a CD and ripping.
People learn at different rates and will take some ideas in quicker than others, it is impossible to tailor a lecture such that everyone can learn at their best. Even with the aid of self study, the explanation given in a book might not help you (and vice versa the book may explain better than the lecturer in your opinion).
In situations like this, asking the lecturer can make a huge difference, he can then explain in a way that's best for you, rather than attempting an average over a class (there are times that a 10 minute session has proven more helpful than two lectures). The smart students are those that will use all their resources to understand something, and your lecturer is one that many people overlook, but they are often very approachable.
In the UK this is helped by the tutor system (there may be something similar in the US but I don't know) that most universities have, each lecturer gets several 3-4 person groups that they take responsibility for. They meet once a week to discuss the courses, problems they are having and generally make sure they are doing well. They are also the student's first line of contact for problems in general.
It's also a useful real world lesson, if you are working in a team on a project but are having trouble with a part of it, do you sit around confused and making a mediocre attempt, or ask a collegue that could help?
And let's not forget the science labs equipment, which can be very expensive (for example, ours has a helium condenser for very low temperature physics, something that you wouldn't be able to use for your own personal study outside of the university).
This begs the question, that if it's so fragile already, why haven't teh 3v1l terrorists!!!! tried to break it off? They could easily afford a load of explosives and it'd be much easier than sneaking them into america itself.
I think you're looking a bit too deeply into it. Most kids would be perfectly happy thinking "this is weird", even if they meant trippedout and psychadelic. They also tend to be more imaginative and come out with far greater leaps of logic that would seem almost random otherwise.
You're confused because you can not see the truth. The evil society around you is conspiring to hide this truth that in fact TuPac and Ron Hubbard are the same person!
Rumours aren't facts. Not only might the rumour of such a program have not been true, but names can change quite a few times from initial rumours to final releases. If you want to secure domains for a product that hasn't even been officially announced then buy them up. It's not like this guy waiting for iTunes to get really big before buying the domain.

Just a question from the crowd, why was Columbia noticably heavier than the other three shuttles?
I know you've hidden goatse.cx in there somehow!

Radiation from keeping my mobile in my pocket already did that one.

It's not gargoyles, it's friggin sharks with frickin lasers attatched to their heads.

This is a very split opinion, why not add the feature and let users toggle it?
What if the software was installed by a minor? Legally they can not make such contracts, therefore the EULA, even if valid, would be null and void.
It's no problem, the human body is mostly water, so we just get ask some hairdressers to work their magic and shrink them.
You're confused because you can not see the truth. The evil society around you is conspiring to hide this truth that in fact TuPac and Ron Hubbard are the same person!
How about a PC that can run Doom3 on maximum settings? Shouldn't cost more than a small Third World country.
