Indeed. It reminds me of the group projects we used to do in uni. I'd always insisted on taking everyone's contribution and editing it to ensure consistency.
Or better still, what about when we get to biology and the creationist contributers start having a ding-dong with the more empirical thinkers? I hate to sound so negative though, this is a nice idea.
what kind of software they're using to generate these equations? The fact that it's going into pdf format (a format that I happen to have an aversion to) and contributions are by email would suggest that this is going to be a lot harder to contribute to than a straightforward wiki.
Good point. How is this going to be useful to educators who frequently have to follow a specific strict syllabus? And as for teaching English, how are they going to handle the differing requirements of British and American teachers? It'll be an interesting one to watch.
Well wikipedia seem to be quite good at countering those sort of trolls since the number of sane contributers outweigh the trolls so much so that the trolls end up not bothering. BTW, whoever modded the parent 'troll' obviously didn't read it very carefully.
I couldn't see this happening. There is a certain mindset in spammers, and many other people, that says that they and only they matter. Wikipedia defines Narcissism as "the pattern of traits and behaviors which involve infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one's gratification, dominance and ambition." These people see no incentive to take on board the effect of their behavior on others. It's like the drivers of gas-guzzling SUVs in the US who don't give a shit how much pollution or oil-wars they cause as long as they get to drive an oversized vehicle for their own personal fulfillment. You just can't reason with people like that.
The BBC have a huge amount of stuff to get through, and it's all available on demand too. Some truly mind-expanding stuff there, especially on Radio 4. 5 Live is quite good too if you're into news and sport, Prime Minister's question time in the House of Commons is the highlight of the week! Did you hear Blair ducking the questions from Michael Howard last week? Priceless!
I thought there already was competition between Titan, Delta, Ariane, Pegasus (for smaller payloads) and the Russian launchers. Am I missing something?
"The PSA, running on a Pentium II processor and GNU Linux OS, would store the steps instead, and use a built-in speaker or LCD screen to tell or show the astronauts what they need to do."
The included earbuds have a proprietary plug which allows them to double as the antenna.
At least there's the chance of getting a good connection there. Standard headphone jacks must be the worst designed interface in all of creation, I have yet to plug a set of headphones into any device and not have to jiggle it around or hold it steady to make sure I get the sound in both ears.
It's a shame too, because history is a fascinating subject, especially when you get a bit of a debate going about it.
What? Creationism actually shows up in serious school textbooks?!
Here it comes, SMS spam offering downloadable anti-virus software!

But not this guy.
There's probably no equivalent Canadian radio because politics up there aren't as polarised as they are in the US.
He wasn't talking about NPR.
Looks like to conservative agenda-pushing mods are at it again. Come on you lefties, give the guy a push back up again, his link was good.

'Fair and Balanced' reporting about the case for and against Micro$oft at last. Don't tell me, 'We report, you decide?'

Of that thing from Flash Gordon the freezes anyone who tries to assasinate Ming.
I saw these things at NASA's AMES research center a few years ago. The article says they could be in serivice within three years too. Very cool.
I smell a Beowulf cluster comment coming on..
plays havoc with getting any traction. I don't think there's anyone around to put the tyre chains on either.
And as far as I know, no reports of ignorant and supestitious lunatics predicting the end of the world. This is progress. I hope...
