  2. Nope. on Metallica May Follow In Footsteps of Radiohead, NIN · · Score: 1

No, not because Napster, not because their philosophy, not because any political reason. Simply, because they suck and haven't put out a good album in the last 20 years.

As an iPhone owner, you are not Apple's customer. You are the product. The iPhone is a device that uses a shiny interface to deliver subscribers to AT&T, who is Apple's true customer in this deal. I've been an Apple user since 1986, but this time I think I'll pass.

  10. Re:The Girl In The Fireplace on 2007 Hugo Award Winners Announced · · Score: 2

OK I just watched "Blink" and I almost crapped my pants, from a combination of it being the best episode EVAR and the statues creeping me out. Pretty much best writing so far in Doctor Who, and by far the best episode of any sci fi show this year.

  11. Re:Doctor Whaaa? on 2007 Hugo Award Winners Announced · · Score: 1

Damn. Is there anything Moffat can't do? Seriously, 1 or 2 episodes per season is not enough. This man should write all of them.

  12. The Girl In The Fireplace on 2007 Hugo Award Winners Announced · · Score: 1

Is the best Doctor Who episode ever. It's been a while since you could say that a Doctor Who episode is so original, and its story so poignant, and elegantly written. I especially love how the final shot ties the whole episode together and resolves what looked like a plot inconsistency up to that moment.

  13. Re:Doctor Whaaa? on 2007 Hugo Award Winners Announced · · Score: 1

Did you actually watch the episode in question? I kinda lost interest in the new series after Eccleston left, but I have to admit that "Girl In The Fireplace" is by far the best Doctor Who episode ever, and roundly trounces anything in Battlestar's second season.

  14. Gold Farming is A-OK with me on The Life of the Chinese Gold Farmer · · Score: 2, Insightful

I support any consensual transaction between two people, as long as it doesn't hurt any third party. Some dude in China is making a living and allowing some lazy rich dude in the USA save himself some boring grinding. I don't see anything wrong with that. If anything, it only means that the game is so poorly made that in order to succeed you need to waste your time doing mindnumbing, soulcrushing repetitive tasks that people are willing to pay not to do. And if you are a MMO player and you think that your enjoyment of a broken, poorly designed game is so important that you want to deny someone the chance to earn a living, then you need to blame the designers for making such a system possible, and yourself for totally buying into it. Myself, I made the choice to not play anymore.

  22. BC is good, to an extent on World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade Review · · Score: 1, Insightful
I quit WoW and started again after BC came out. They did fix a bunch of stuff:
    • Instances no longer require a 4 hour commitment
    • Casual playing actually has rewards
    • Zones are very well designed and laid out
    • One in ten quests is actually interesting and fun
However, after I did a quest where I had to kill Hydras for 4 hours in order to get 8 scales or whatever, I realized that it was more of the same crap and the promptly quit the game again.
