No, not because Napster, not because their philosophy, not because any political reason.
Simply, because they suck and haven't put out a good album in the last 20 years.
Upgrade treadmill my ass... a lot of the changes in HTML 5 are very welcome, and I wish they were implemented yesterday. This is not Microsoft shoving Vista down your throat.
But he argues that the Internet, combined with computer hardware and software that has become commoditized, will enable the utility computing model to replace today's client/server model.
WTF? That makes no sense whatsoever. That's how you know the guy is completely clueless.
As an iPhone owner, you are not Apple's customer. You are the product. The iPhone is a device that uses a shiny interface to deliver subscribers to AT&T, who is Apple's true customer in this deal.
I've been an Apple user since 1986, but this time I think I'll pass.
OK I just watched "Blink" and I almost crapped my pants, from a combination of it being the best episode EVAR and the statues creeping me out. Pretty much best writing so far in Doctor Who, and by far the best episode of any sci fi show this year.
Is the best Doctor Who episode ever. It's been a while since you could say that a Doctor Who episode is so original, and its story so poignant, and elegantly written. I especially love how the final shot ties the whole episode together and resolves what looked like a plot inconsistency up to that moment.
Did you actually watch the episode in question? I kinda lost interest in the new series after Eccleston left, but I have to admit that "Girl In The Fireplace" is by far the best Doctor Who episode ever, and roundly trounces anything in Battlestar's second season.
I support any consensual transaction between two people, as long as it doesn't hurt any third party.
Some dude in China is making a living and allowing some lazy rich dude in the USA save himself some boring grinding. I don't see anything wrong with that. If anything, it only means that the game is so poorly made that in order to succeed you need to waste your time doing mindnumbing, soulcrushing repetitive tasks that people are willing to pay not to do.
And if you are a MMO player and you think that your enjoyment of a broken, poorly designed game is so important that you want to deny someone the chance to earn a living, then you need to blame the designers for making such a system possible, and yourself for totally buying into it.
Myself, I made the choice to not play anymore.
Even better, there's something to be said for -7th generation tactics. Superior training and motivation, combined with loincloths, helmets and red capes, can achieve quite a bit.
Paying money for the right to slap a Commodore logo on a completely average PC does not a Commodore make. You would have to be an idiot to infer some sort of association with the legendary Commodore.
In any case, it's not a Commodore unless I can LOAD"$",8,1
I quit WoW and started again after BC came out. They did fix a bunch of stuff:
Instances no longer require a 4 hour commitment
Casual playing actually has rewards
Zones are very well designed and laid out
One in ten quests is actually interesting and fun
However, after I did a quest where I had to kill Hydras for 4 hours in order to get 8 scales or whatever, I realized that it was more of the same crap and the promptly quit the game again.
The iPhone isn't even a smartphone... aside from the fact that Apple will obviously use its own OS, why the hell would the fact that the iPhone doesn't use Symbian be counted as "evidence" that Symbian is not doing well?
Effect, not affect, goddamn it!

I predict there will be close to zero posts about the article itself.

In that case I'll call my own miraculous energy device the Taurus Escape.
I just did, 5 minutes ago. New Radiohead album.
Those are mostly maps of Internet topology. The xkcd map is a map of address allocations. It's entirely different.

Damn. Is there anything Moffat can't do? Seriously, 1 or 2 episodes per season is not enough. This man should write all of them.

In other words, you like IE because it allows you to be a sloppy, careless coder? Awesome..
Every developer has their own repository, which they can commit as branches into a repository of repositories :P
I thought we agreed that ComputerWorld article was mostly crap...
wow.. that sounds harder than editing xorg.conf

No word on classes? combat system? instanced Lego dungeons? races? I bet crafting is going to be awesome.

That includes Symbian, Blackberry and Windows Mobile. That doesn't include the iPhone.

We do have Microcenter, off the Vienna metro. I guess it counts.
