cool, i can't wait for this, i'm guessing it wont be as good as the original alien or original predator (crossover plots usually arent) but i think it'll be a pretty darn good movie
Did you know you can even disable that stupid little issue of windows automatically running arbitrary code on insertation of a CD? just goto the hardware manager and look at the properties of your CD/DVD drive and you can disable the stupid feature of windows! if i want to run something on a cd i'm looking at i'll bloody well do it myself!
Hey i am a... hold on let me check.... Man, and i can swear to you that i am... hold on let me look up that word... retarded, it only took me 40 minutes to find that page in the dictionary, they should put those words in some kind of order, i mean shouldn't the q's and u's be together what kind of logic doesn't do that?
ah thats nothing, my neighbor had been having problems with his computer, Adaware found over 900 things, very few of them cookies since i tought him how to delete them before, and before you say its bunk, he's got 3 teenage daughters who do nothing but surf the web and know very little about computers, i've had to clean up virii many times for him.
in the development series, this can be remidied, there is an option to have that menu up at the top of the image window, makes it less confusing for those of you who haven't gotten used to the right click
why not Windows ME for the whole flavor? then you'd have an OS crashing every second of the day! (well ME can do that on its own but thats beside the point)
problem with that is that the average geek hates being treated as a consumer like that, thats what appeals to them in linux, they are generally (take that with a grain of salt) treated as equals to the people who have been there longer than them, they learn to fix things themselves rather than have some company do it. if you want linux to head in that direction you're going to need a corporation to be able to do it, linux geeks generally dont want to dumb things down like that
i dont understand either, i'm not sure how changing the source would help meet a deadline like that, but it does mean that if someflaw like a segfault shows up because of the way they did something, they can fix it to meet a deadline rather than redesign the entire scene to do it differently
well you could use an xml file that describes all of the dependencies, and then have it generate something like this
start_sshd: start_network
start_rpcd: start_network
stop_network: stop_sshd stop_rpcd
I agree that linux isn't 100% secure, no operating system is, and more than likely never will be, nobody can make a perfect operationg system.
Second, phpBB2 and PHP-Nuke are both php scripts, they dont run exclusively on linux, i've seen them running on IIS before, its not that difficult.
Third, we do need a company to begin integrating everything in linux, Ximian is begining to start that with things in gnome but they are along way aways from it.
But i have to ask which would you rather have? a platform where theres known problems with, but they dont get fixed unless they get media attention usually? or one where the patches are out within a day of any problem being found?
I couldn't stop lauging when i read this, wish i was that clever

a P2P VoIP system, that displays ads, and puts them into the conversation?
the problem they keep claiming is that if they tell anyone what they've done wrong is that they'll just fix it and move on.
should be fairly easy,
wget --mirror http://blah.blah.com
then tarball it up as blah.blah.tar.bz2
and make a bittorent of it

a monopoly doesn't have to have 100% of the market share, its usually defined as around 90% which M$ clearly has
yes they were very happy their computer stopped behaving like a 286 on a downer and finally acted like the 500mhz celeron with 64mb of ram it is

if i had male breasts i wouldn't be on /. i'd be too busy in the shower
she could still be a lesbian
alot of that is true, that option should probably be true, but i dont think an SVG based website is the best idea unless you hate IE

i've been looking for the update version of that for so long!

pop up a window? what do you do if the required service is XFree86?

i think its a bit different when they tell you the domain is avaiable, and dont run a mail server, etc. rather than advertise to people about verisign
