    This isn't a problem specific to GPL code. If you are selling software, you have to make sure none of the code in your program is plagarised, regardless of the licence such plagarised code might be available under.

    We have some people called the Metric Martyrs who think metric units are some unnecessary EU interference in our affairs.

    It gets confusing at times when for example the distance you drive in a car is measured in miles, fuel for it is sold in litres, and fuel efficiency is either miles per gallon or litres per 100km. We really need a miles per litre measure, but I guess that isn't going to happen.

    The same law that prevents the Metric Martyrs from selling their vegetables in pounds and ounces also prevents pubs from selling beer in litres. They are required to sell it in pints. This causes a problem for German and Australian themed bars who want to sell in the traditional metric measures found in those countries.

    The fact is that it might, but it isn't always guaranteed to, even over the very long term.

    If you had invested in some of the stock markets in Europe around that time, you would have lost everything.

    The last 70 years or so ago takes you from just after the wall street crash. That's probably not the most representative time frame. If you had invested just before the wall street crash, your investment would still have underperformed compared to a cash investment after all this time.

    You can look at inflation futures to reduce the discount rate on your income stream. Electricity won't exactly match inflation, but it is a start..

    It does depreciate in value because the panels only last about 30 years. That makes the IRR about 6.8%, which is still pretty good.

    Comcast reduces their price to $65 per month to grab a load of AT&T customers.

    AT&T reduces their price to $60 per month to get customers back off Comcast.

    And so on down to $30 per month.

    That's what happens in a genuinely competitive market place.

    Private monopolies are generally worse than government monopolies, but private competition is better than both of those.

    Historians in 250 years time will be very interested in your holiday snaps. It won't matter that they aren't well taken etc, they will still tell them a lot about life in the early 2000s.

    The earth is not egg or potato shaped. You get from a sphere to an egg or potato shape by squeezing it round the equator to make it longer and thinner, whereas the earth is squashed at the poles to make it shorter and fatter.

    You use html if you want a document that adapts to different screen sizes. PDFs are supposed to look the same anywhere.

    Some web designers do design their pages in ways that break this, but your complaint is with them, not the hardware and software people.

    If you want it lighter, but still have a decent sized keyboard and screen, then the only way to do that is to make it thinner.
