    How about assuring that the drug doesn't doesn't actually kill you?

    That's a hard problem that's really unique per individual.

    Consider all the variables in the environment, genetics and drug to drug interaction, ensuring that drug X wont' kill you, the options get really complex. Patient A, anorexic heroin user vs Patient B overweight smoker on hypertension drugs.

    I would settle for assurances on classes, 99% of class a won't die but 20% of class b will.

    Think of the different formulations of birth control pills. Some people get emotional some dont'. Some have debilating cramps some don't

    Radical anything needs to be controlled and sidelined. Not exterminated. In many nations immigrants don't melt into the culture anymore, they're insular. The populus needs education. The "right to free speech" isn't to criticize your fellow man but to critiized and call out abuses w/in the governement. To say that the minority can't abuse everyone else; no beating your SO. Do want you want in the privacy of your home. but you can't dictate or pass laws what I do in public.

    The good of all society must be a consideration and not what you think it should be.

    I'd rather get %5 year over year than 238% one year and -1200% the next. Hell, I'll bet that most of the common retirement portfolios haven't recovered from the Great Recession, because sure as hell the job market hasn't.

    I guess "best case" here is that they're trying to get a bunch of people to quit, so they can get fresh locals in for less pay, screwing the existing staff in the process.

    and you're at the other end of the spectrum.

    I.T. is a little of both ... it acts like a big lever, little input massive results.
    It keeps the wheels greased and on the cart. IT adds multipliers (reports, apps, data analysis, etc)

    Now more depts are adding they're own analysts (big data) so that's a grey area, but the effect is the same.

    I'm not sure that this is a unsolvable problem. With screen sharing and conference call, this should be a non-issue.

    Tele-work is the same whether you are in the same building, state or country. It shouldn't matter.

    i have the exact same problems. I try to let the Ribbon work for me but never can find what i need. For example; I was working in Excel just pasted in some text and was looking for the text to columns function. Something I use all the time. Damn ribbon was hiding it and I just jumped to the menus and did it by that. Some of the icons used just suck. And searching (in 7); What was the name of that program i use to show disk space ... j something. It would have been under "JTools" in the menu, but what the fuck is the name of the program ????? I you don't remember the name searching sucks.

    it wont take over for years and even in that case it might be only the new development. Business won't change everything over as that's a capital expenditure. Do you realize how may manhours it took to generate the first system and you want to change it? .NET = one platform (you mono guys go piss on someone else) You may get a small subset going over to mono but it isn't going to be "everyone"

    On the other hand - Companies will look for paid support.

    Which may be a good thing as Oracle's ERP offerings are Java based - Consultancy lock ins and jobs to retire in.....

    Examine actions of the religious "spreaders" (what's the word?) on condom use. What's the reason that condoms are condemned ? Their use stops the spread of disease.
