What makes you think they are overpriced? They are actually priced very reasonably. If they were overpriced they would not have millions of subscribers.
A CD also doesn't sound like a live band because of all the production that goes into music. Songs are not even recorded as a live band, and are not mean to sound like they were! They also have several layers of tracks.
It has not been released. Besides that, this thread was addressing the issue of Windows being labeled bloatware. It has been labeled bloatware long before Longhorn/Vista existed.
Why is competition in the marketplace always characterized as a "war?"
Because you are trying to defeat your opponent, much like in a war.
Why are these "wars" always lost before anyone even knows about them?
I think you can see it frequently before it is lost. PS2 vs. XBox. IBM PC vs. all the other early Personal Computers. SNES vs. Genesis, etc. Soon we are going to see Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD.
Lossless is nothing new. If Apple does the same thing as someone else has already done, it suddenly turns out to be great and trendy and stylish, merely because they're Apple and they do no wrong.
Unfortunately not having Flash version 8 makes going to many websites an unpleasant process in linux.
But you can compile everything!!!
It definately ran on my 486. I actually still have that computer and the quake shareware CD from back then and could prove it.

How many people own an XBox but not a computer? .1%?

Gnome and KDE eat memory like crazy too! I like linux and am no MS lover but the OSS desktops are memory hogs.

The current version of Windows, XP, fits on one CD.
This is nothing new, my health insurance has an online system and so do many others.

Same as if a Debian stable release wasn't delayed!

That it just to be fair. (I am a Debian user)
TV shows should give the viewer whatever maximizes profits for the companies involved. This might be sad, but it's true.
I am mainly a linux user, but Windows XP actually does come with accelerated 3D drivers for many cards.
Sounds paranoid to me.
Last time I checked you aren't liable for fraudulent charges on a credit card.
You are correct sir, but:
Lighten up, Francis.

If you dare say something non-positive about the great Apple then you marked as a troll by the Apple fanboys. I forgot that Steve Jobs is God.

In Soviet Russia, cores do you!

I think you mean bomber pilots.
Only if he could eject the crap from the plane, otherwise the crap-weight is still there.
Are you married?
Come on, he is posting on slashdot. Many of us have never talked to a woman.
