Who says you can't dev for both?
You can write Flex apps that are compatible with iOS, Android and Playbook all at once. Even if you don't like Air or Flex, you can use HTML5 for your iOS app and port to WebWorks for Playbook and BlackBerry.
That was my sentiment as well. I read their statement when I woke up this morning and immediately changed my Paypal password. I advised everyone I know that has a Paypal to do the same and to make sure they don't use a common password, but a UNIQUE one. I have a feeling they have already lifted a few accounts and the info will be posted soon.
Gigaom says "Apple May Have Snapped Up iCloud.com" because "My source [...] says that Xcerion has sold the domain to Apple for about $4.5 million. Xcerion hasn’t responded to my queries as yet. At the time of writing, the Whois database showed Xcerion as the owner of iCloud.".
EdibleApple says "Apple reportedly buys iCloud.com domain for $4.5 million" because "Gigaom is reporting that Apple recently purchased the iCloud.com domain from Xcerion for a cool $4.5 million.".
Which on Slashdot becomes "Apple Buys iCloud.com Domain For $4.5 Million" saying "A report on late Wednesday night relayed that Apple recently purchased the iCloud.com domain from Xcerion for a cool $4.5 million.".
When enough people speculate on the same thing, it apparently makes it undeniably so.
Somehow you managed to miss all the Slashdot groupthink clichés. Not that you don't have a point, but you missed the good ones. Your post is moot and boring, just like mine. Make room for more groupthink.
I'm just saying, I've been working in the telecom industry for 10 years and I've never seen a stable and interesting or usable version of PocketPC or Windows Mobile. I was waiting on the first WP7 devices just so I could bash them. In that sense I was very disappointed and I (to my surprise) gave them a good review. So far so good on stability, but the real refreshing thing about WP7 is the ease of use and just the general cleanliness of the interface. I remember hearing Ballmer go on "yeah we know Windows Mobile 6 blew, but wait 'till you see 6.1!", and then "wait 'till you see 6.5!" and I would snicker. This is different though, really shows a change of mindset on MS's part.
No.
You can read more on the benefits for each company here. I personally think this is great news for Nokia, I've been watching them down with a bit of sadness during the last year, that said I wouldn't have touched an E71 or an E72 with a ten-foot pole. I hate to say it but Windows Phone 7 is great (unlike prior versions), and this is something I think can turn the ship around and actually save Nokia.
Agreed. Also IMO this kind of game will appeal to a certain crowd, and the problem is that this crowd will be satisfied with having a couple of these games and not feel the need to buy whatever they put out next. So within a few titles they have saturated the market. I still play RB1 almost every day, when I get tired I download a few new song off the music store and I'm good. I will probably get RB3 soon, but still that's one music game I've played for the last 3 years steady without getting bored. It's not that the genre has lost its appeal, it's that the games out there are good enough that new ones are no longer needed.
I have an Xbox 360 myself and I have to say, it's not family friendly at all. I keep running porn DVDs on it and getting all kinds of weird looks when my family comes to visit.
For every story like this, there is an equal and opposite experience somewhere else.
iPhone app store does have a lot of gems, but they're lost among 100000+ payware (cheap, but still payware) apps that are badly written and/or useless, and the rating system is misleading and flawed, trials are very rare. Once I'd paid for 10+ shitty apps and uninstalled them all within 10 minutes, I got real pissed and turned in my iPhone after 3 weeks. My number 1 complaint? Ironically, lack of apps. I'm sure the perfect app for everything I wanted to do is out there, but the App Store is polluted and the good apps have been diluted into an ocean of crapware and the tools I have to dig through all the crap aren't doing it for me.
I'm on Android - good middle ground. Market has a lot of flaws but it's 100 times less polluted than the App Store, and most apps are free or offer demo versions.
I'm switching back to a Torch next week and gladly going back to Black (mind you - I love Android, but the devices aren't doing it for me without a proper keypad).
What answer do you expect on Slashdot?

for Windows Vista and better, anyway.
... so it works on OS X?
William Shatner, is that you?

You should really shop around then, they've made HUGE improvements in the last 30 years.

We're looking for an idea but we ain't got squat.
Tivo too, just got an email from them.
These companies profit from situations like this. This is their business case. What did you expect?
I believe the threesome would be higher because most of them involve at least a little of banana eating.
This is about the Mac App Store, not the iPhone App Store. This is Opera, not Opera Mini.
Not sure, I think I set off a trigger on the anti-MS slashcrowd.

Is your password hunter2_a1nO=$i! as well?
How does this prevent me from typing :-( instead of :-)? Is it impossible to hit to wrong key on this keypad?
Rate and volume are not the same.
The spam volume was 65.9% lower than previous year. The spam rate also went down.

Same here. KDE and XFCE on Fedora. No Gnome.

No way to archive Entourage data with Spotlight.
Entourage is teh suck. Wait till OL2010 on Mac, until then stick with Mail.
I agree, it's been done many times before (example).
