You're right, but the plan isn't to prevent dupes in the first place. The way it works, when you subscribe to Slashdot you'll be sent a lifetime supply of these. When a dupe is posted, 2-4 caplets until you think it's normal that it keeps happening.
Given that HSDPA is an extension to UMTS, that seems unlikely. Did you mean that they'll launch HSDPA at the same time as UMTS? That would certainly make sense.
Oops, I actually meant that they'll skip WCDMA and go directly to HSDPA... I didn't realize the article was already talking about HSDPA, since 3.6Mbps is really a WCDMA achievable speed...
Bell Mobility has a soft cap at 100 Mb for their "unlimited" data plan, but I often see customers using as much as 600 Mb without overage charges... They don't enforce this data cap.
Also, don't worry about these overage charges with Rogers Wireless since they aren't scheduled to upgrade their network to before 2007, and they will probably skip HSDPA and go straight to UMTS.
You can be confident that they will adjust their data prices accordingly by then.
Acually I'm using a 1X-EVDO phone which is CDMA's equivalent of GSM networks' upgrade to HSDPA... 1X-EVDO has a peak download rate of 2.4 mbps, and we usually pull between 400 and 700 kbps steady. That's pretty good for a cell phone IMO.
Maybe it's a Quebec law then, but that's exactly what they do yes.
In public parking lots in malls, there's always a few police cars patrolling for unlocked doors that give out tickets.
If you leave your car parked in the street at night and you forget to lock your doors, expect a ticket the next morning.
I've seen a couple comments to this effect already, and most seem like sarcastic comments...
I don't know if it's actually a law down there in the US, but here in Canada it's illegal to leave your car doors unlocked. I don't see why this would be different.
Actually, the same thing seems to have happend in computers too. Once the whole world seemed to have standardized on Posix. Then Bill Gates came along. . ..
So you're saying I should worship Bill Gates instead?
Why is this linked on Slashdot, and more precisely, who wrote that blurb?
I think most Slashdot readers know the differences between LiLo and GRUB, so I'm wondering why this submission was accepted in the first place, but even worse, the fact that the blurb concentrates on explaining what a boot loader is, and what a MBR is... Come on.
You guys with mod points need to read the thread or article before using them... Half the comments here talk about how the author of this research is the same guy who concluded that white people were smarter than black people, and that lighter-colored black people were smarter than darker-colored black people.
So in conclusion -- according to him -- blacks and women are dumb. Caucasian males is the way to go.
Wait a sec here, you sound like a black. Judging from the other comments here about this man's research, it appears that blacks are no better than women.
Sorry.
Any perticular reason when I go to the website and open up the Flash demo to see how it works, it says "Best viewed in fullscreen" inside the non-resizable popup window?
When I read your comment, two things happened in my (apparently) tired mind:
1. I laughed and thought "that is SO how Real is OMGWTFBBQ!".
2. I waited a bit for the rest of your comment to load...

I'm in QC, Canada, and I pay 37.95$ CAD a month, for 5.1 mbps / 820 kbps... You're getting ripped off.
What's the big fuss all about?
With 1X Ev-DO up here we can now get 700 kbps down and 85 kbps up. Revision A should be here next year to make upload 10 times faster...

So when did he change his name to Al Gore?
No way, he was just considering on pressing the download button 15-18 seconds after writing the blurb :/
You think that's bad, mine was last millenium.
Take that AMD!
The instructions specifically said "do not taunt happy fun resilin ball"!
So you're saying I should worship Bill Gates instead?
Well these 'expert analysts' followed our discussion here on Slashdot, and took two months to make that into an article (spellchecking, y'know?).
That's good news for Darl, this means many more 799$ licenses for him if Windows users qualify...
You obviously haven't been following... Microsoft decided to disable games in Vista as an hommage to OSX.

Why not just ask Tank and Dozer to fill in?
