Maybe a robot that chewed your food for you would
be a great thing too? And God help us if they start
building these robot cars in China, because we all
know how they drive...
Computers and cars have one thing in common, those
who know something about them have a hard time
resisting the temptation to deceive those that
don't. Years ago, a friend who was a mechanic,
used to put BSC $10.00 on the bill sometimes.
When I asked what it was, he said a "being stupid
charge" for people who argued with him. He was
also fond of people who would come into his garage
bragging "This car really hauls ass." He'd say,
"Yeah, it's hauling two of them right now."
What a character!
Would this be the same HP that sold some $100
million worth of technology to the Canadian
government that nobody seems to be able to find?
So, they're on our side now? That's good, right?
Hope that HP/Mandrake works out better than
AMC/Renault did.
Yes indeed, here in Canada we have a standing army
of some 50,000 soldiers.
We also have 40,000 people working for Revenue
Canada (our IRS), and let me tell you, you do not
want to piss them off.
Additionally, we have what are considered the
meanest and cruellest Hells Angels chapters in
the world in Quebec. But they're not as bad as
the bunch from Revenue Canada.
Now, as a Canadian taxpayer, I have to decide
whether I'm being hornswaggled by the Canadian
government or the Hewlett-Packard corporation.
That is a tough call. I am feeling mighty tender
after the numerous scandals which have come to
light recently, so I guess it doesn't make much
difference. When I read last summer that the CEO
of H-P (Ms. Fiorentino?) was paid in excess of
$100 million my thought was that you don't make
that much money for doing anything honest.
That's a lot of money to misplace though, and I'm
guessing a lot more to find it.
Another way to look at it would be that the U.S.
Government, in their opininion, is in no way
responsible for the welfare of their citizens,
but is responsible for the welfare of their
corporations.
It seems all to familiar:
"In December 1970 Dirk sued Stig and Nasty, Barry
sued Dirk, Nasty sued Stig and Barry, and Stig sued
himself accidentally. It was the end of a Golden
Era, and the beginning of another one for lawyers
everywhere".
I think if I was making a press release up to
announce giving a million to a large corporation
which probably will be picked up by all the news
organizations and used to quote me by, I'd run it
through the spell-checker.
Twice to be safe (Use the Preview Button!).
That's just me.
Boy,that was an easy million.
How did anyone that stupid make that much money?
Extortion must be tax-deductible these days, I'm
sure the accountants will take care of it.
So what are you trying to say? Is Ralph Nader for or against Java?
"Gentlemen, we've got to protect our phoney-baloney jobs." Mel Brooks
Another one of those *tel companies that get all the governments money (Intel, Bechtel, Nextel).
Yes, and he who lose control makes gash landing.
"If you don't like where you work, you don't have to go on strike. Just do a lousy job. That's the American Way." Homer Simpson
Maybe a robot that chewed your food for you would be a great thing too? And God help us if they start building these robot cars in China, because we all know how they drive...
...or so the Germans would have us believe.
Yeah, and who cares anyways if some poofter gets a punch in the nose and loses his iPod.

Ah yes, if only I could do emerge --update scirocco

Have to agree. Seems it's hard to dumb something down without making it stupid. Like talking paper clips.
I'd just like to say that people get the government they deserve (snicker, snicker, snicker).

You mean like the Kiss vs MPlayer problem: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design3/news.html
There is a "toram" boot prompt option which will run the whole cd from your RAM. Better have a gig. Never tried it (need another stick or two).

So THAT is how they got all their money... guess they don't have to worry about losing those customers on principle.

Ah, correction. I'm using mine to get transparent titlebars in kahakai. And they look mah-velous!
I can remember when I couldn't get it to work. I used to hate it too. There's still Fedora for the rest of ya!
I just laugh at people who still think Free Trade is a good thing. Where's Ross Perot when you need him?
