Does he not realize that Linux runs on embedded systems. He makes a comment that:
"Software is also embedded in hardware, chips, printers and even consumer electronics. Should embedded software become 'free' too, it would be natural to conclude the value of hardware will spiral downward as well."
Let's see....PDA's, routers, cell phones, dvd players....yup, they all run Linux, and I don't see the value of these pieces of hardware spiraling downwards. The "cost" may drop, but the "value" could stay the same, or increase due to the possibly increased functionality (among other things) that running Linux on these devices allows.
But that requires extra mouse clicks to bring various windows to the front and reduces productivity. Here's an example:
Let's say I have evolution and mozilla both open and I'm surfing. I get a new email to evolution. It has a link in it I'd like to go check out. Also assume that this link is not clickable, but is just a URL. Now that I have switched to the evolution window, I need to switch back to mozilla, delete the line, then back to evolution, copy it, and back to mozilla to paste. Why can't I just copy from evolution the first time and paste straight into mozilla? The extra two mouse clicks are annoying and anti-productive
Hydro-shock is actually legal, and different from what you said. It is hollow point, but has a rod down the center that will slam forward on impact to help the bullet continue on it's path (it adds a little extra momentum after the initial impact)
Well, that is your OPINION. Personally, I like the spatial nautilus, and therefore we should just agree to disagree. But I think the submitter is trolling by calling it an "abomination". I installed Fedora on an XP box last week for someone, and I did not encounter a single problem. XP booted up the first time w/o a hitch, as did Fedora.
Catholicism wasn't invented. It just was. It started with Peter as the first pope and went from there. Then some guys like Luther, Calvin, and King Henry started breaking off from the church. Some of their reasons were very good observations of what was wrong with the church, and others were just plain bonkers. I'm not saying that Catholicism was always "right" in everything it did, but it is a verifiable fact that Catholicism was the initial Christian church.
OMG, not that guy. I've read his stuff before and there are things he says that are just flat out wrong. I don't pay any mind to what he has to say, but I'd give him more credit if he actually would correctly say the scientific things he says instead of misinterpreting them and using that misinterpretation as part of his proof.
Well, if you remember the Simpsons episode where they parodied VH1's Behind the Music, called "Behind The Comedy" or something, near the end they say "this small family from northern Kentucky". Granted, Kentucky doesn't have an ocean like Springfield does, but there is a Springfield, Kentucky.
I read a newspaper article once about how outfielders catch fly-balls. Basically, the ball follows an arc in the air. It's parabolic (which is fairly obvious). The way a fielder judges how far or back they need to be to catch the ball is what is interesting. The fielder will move so the ball will always appear to stay in one spot (and just get larger), even while it is on its descent. As long as this apparent motion is kept, the ball should go right into the glove. If the ball appears to move down, the fielder must move forward. If the ball appears to move up, then the fielder needs to go back. If the fielder sees any curve to the path, then he/she needs to move to the sides to "straighten" out the path. A really interesting read, wish I could find a URL w/ it.
What I fail to see is how they call themselves the "Southwestern Bell Company" when it doesn't include two of the most southwestern states around; Arizona and New Mexico
Hmm....we could get quite the loop going here.
Windows -> Cygwin (?) -> Linux
Linux -> PearPC -> OS X
OS X -> VirtualPC -> Windows
repeat ad infinitum.
Yes folks, we just have discovered the new way to stress test your new computer. The more loops you can get going, the better.
Wanna make it even more confusing?
Run PearPC from Linux, running Gnome w/ the Gno-SX Mac Theme. Then, you run Linux from within Windows, which as you said has a Mac theme. Voila! 3 OS X's at once!;)
Well, they may run into a problem from Apple on that one, b/c things that are have transparency are patented by Apple. So....Microsoft owns the name, Apple owns the effect, and I guess I'm going to just stick w/ doors on my houses.:)
I knew it!
Instead of naming themselves after the word Googol to describe a 1 followed by a 100 zeroes, they should've played it safe and called themselved "Centamillion!" (w/o the exclamation point though, b/c we all know that Yahoo! owns that piece of puncuation::rollseyes::)
You make a good point, but I never said cost couldn't drop, I merely said value, and there is a big difference between the two.
Well, back in my day, that's how we had to make our cakes, and we couldn't have been happier. You young-ins have it easy these days.
Didn't you read at the end where he says:
"He is reportedly "not the sharpest knife in the drawer,"

Edit on the trolling bit. I RTFA and they use the same words.

If you've got 128MB of RAM you have plenty and therefore will have no need for swap space. I mean, isn't 640k enough for everyone?
umm...Actually there are TWO jap cars and two American cars. Subaru is a Japanese car company.

No.....see.....you're wrong. The dinosaurs would've just taken up too many cubits that could be used for other animals :)
j/k ;)

Slight correction: Catholicism isn't a main branch of Christianity. It is the trunk from which other Christian religions have branched.

Well, Mandrake released it, but then they pulled it off the servers. So it is now back up and should be up for good.
First we get paint jobs, then windows, then neon and now.......Wings and fins on a computer case. Yikes.

I'd hate to see that slowdown.
Well, I've been waiting for a way to finally use my free copy of OS X I received through my mom (she was a teacher) and now I may have a way. w00t

In other news, houses now come w/ "clear glass openings" to see out.
