I agree. Even for someone who's heard of Linux, sometimes the sheer number of distros out there can be overwhelming. Now this theoretical reader has a place to start.
Somehow I suspect 116,144.654 is a bit overblown, and the About section amused me because obviously setting Blackle to your homepage only saves energy if you have Google for your homepage in the first place. I actually use mycatholic.com for my homepage, and you can just customize the colors right there.
Also, wouldn't a black Google be really hard on low-vision uses? I think I'd get a headache staring at this all day.
I don't know which I like better: the idea of parents' lives being easier not having to try and decipher their kids themselves all the darn time anymore, or what it could offer for insight into language study.
Had my first experience with the Wii from about 1PM yesterday until 6:30AM this morning.
Freakin' sweet.
I most assuredly like the Wii more than the 360. Better games, and the Wiimote is way better than I thought it would be when I first saw the design.
As disturbing as some of those were, the comment is still amusing.
On the article itself, I love the idea. If I had kids...(oh the wisecracks that could go here.......)
Isn't this the same kind of thing people tried with a XXX-domain? IIRC, both sides of the issue thought it was a bad idea.
Though I'm entirely for a company being able to restrict what can be accessed on its own machines, on company time. I'm sorry, but if you're such a sex-addicted moron you want to access porn at work, you need help. [/2 cents]
I'm in a programming class right now (literally: my notes are open in another window) and GOTO hasn't even come up. It's an intro-level class, but...
I see WHY it's used, and it for sure has its purpose, but if there's a more efficient way to program, duh people are going to go for it.
And "registration required"? Ha: http://www.bugmenot.com/ (And yes, the NY Times is on there.)
I don't think there's anything else out there. I'd rather spend funds on US getting OUT THERE than trying to get a non-existant THEM to come OVER HERE.
Or we could cure cancer or something. That works, too.
If it counts for anything, I've learned a great deal just from reading the replies to this post. Currently, I'm a CIS major, and I've learned some stuff here (though Window-key + L has been a favorite of mine at home to protect from an overly-curious parent or sibling,) from reading.
I think I can sympathise with the origional post on the concentration issue. I have ADD and am paying an extra $120 a semester to have my own dorm room. (That suppliment was the cheapest out of the 6 schools I applied to, though.) I'm actually rather petrified about concentrating in a cube-town, but I've read some very helpful things here that will at least help me address security concerns, regardless of how private or sensetive whatever stuff I'm putzing with is.
[/2 cents]
Frankly, I think the display name "coward" suits you well. "Troll" would also be fitting. Queen would be more affected by this law than you would, and heaven forbid she's a responsible individual who would DARE obey the law. Law isn't inherently evil, y'know.
I agree. I honestly find that attending class is easier than trying to budget the ENTIRE thing on your own, time-wise. I work better with deadlines that are given to me by a living, breathing, human being, not a computer.
What on Earth is wrong with adults having some fun on Halloween, be it child or adult fun?
Back to the origional post, though, I don't know what else "geeky" you could do for your party that hasn't already been suggested. (Unless you can find some way to hack cell phones, that is. I have no clue how to do it, but if there were a way to change people's ringtones after they arrive and set all the phones to go off simotaniously, that would be a prize. (At least it makes sense in my head.))
OK, back to my hermitage. I've had my human contact for the year. *Marks 2006 on her calendar.*
Amen to that.
Yahoo! was my first introduction into chatrooms. I wonder if anyone under 18 will still be able to start IM chats when MSN and Yahoo! join forces? That would be stupid to block. -_-
Would it work to numb the area where the needle was going to go and then blindfold them or something?
I just hope that the abense of a positive diagnosis from bloodwork doesn't lead to people who need help being denied it, i.e. insurance companies denying converage for psychiatric help just because a person's blood tests came out negative.:-(

For some reason, this doesn't surprise me. Consumers are probably better off anyway.

Why this comment is only rated a 1 I do not get. I agree with it whole-heartedly, though.
Yeah. People aren't going to, at the drop of a hat, abandon a GUI that's working for them. My philosophy is always, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I love the idea. ^_^ Good luck!

I frankly don't have a problem with that. So sue me.
