    in the end I think Walmart will cause all other chains to become more "upscale" with somewhat higher prices but also having competant and helpful employees and quality merchandise rather than getting cheap shit imported from china and dropped/broken by the walmonkeys.

    that's not really dishonest, 16 ms response only limits to 62 hz if every pixel changes every frame, all this means is that it can start drawing changes on some pixels before other ones finish updating.

    The SEC is slow and cautious about these things because any stock being investigated will be treated like radioactive waste by investors, often the company will be destroyed when it's stock bottoms out and stays low.

    walmart does not barcode their products, the manufacturer does, and UPC's do not encode any data other than error correction data for the UPC number, which serves as a unique identifier for each product, anything beyond that is done by the backend database.

    I think that stuff is done by the child porn distributors to act like radar chaff, if you see preteen incest rape tagged on 10% of everything on the network when it's unrelated, the .1% that really is will be harder to find.

    targeting is not as difficult as people are thinking, rather than track with the laser if you fire the laser roughly opposite or perpendicular to your target and track with a mirror you could do pretty well, either high precision servo motors, or even better stepper motors from a hard drive would be precise enough. Isolating vibration would be a bit tricky but certainly not impossible, hell you could even just choose to ignore vibrations and the laser would still do enough to temporarily blind the pilot.

    one (of many) Big problem there is a safety critical system using input rather than configuration state to control the Status display, hell the status display should not even be aware of most input commands, except by way of detecting the resulting configuration changes, and parhapse having the input system notify the status display that "something has changed, check status"

    I happen to have a bottle of that stuff in my fridge, mix a small amount (scoop out a bit with the end (1- 1.5 cm) of a butter knife) and stir it in real well into a small cool-whip tub worth of sour cream and you have some killer dip for much cheaper than the stuff you buy in stores.

    depending on your Video card you can probably play Half Life 2, I run my CPU (athlon 2200+) at 1.33 Ghz rather than the spec'd 1.8 to keep heat and fan noise down, and my system handled HL2 just fine.

    you are the only other person i have ever seen postin that they have a Radeon 9700 Pro, I have not tested it on doom 3 but I know it does just fine with Half Life 2 and UT2004.

    it's not the same service, it looks like the same service just like watching downloaded TV shows off a cable modem looks similar to just watching TV over the cable. The telephone line is still being paid for and taxed wherever it exit's the vonage system and becomes a phone number, the only difference is Vonage is able to get bulk rates rather than residential rates, basically vonage acts as a for-profit collective bargaining agent, the telco's don't like that because they want to be able to squeeze money from individual customers.
