iPod sales are going through the roof. So much so that Apple doesn't even have enough stock to supply it's European market. I think Apple is being very wise and protecting itself from the likes of Microsoft, who I'm sure would take advantage of any "deliberate obfuscation" to find loopholes and use the same interface when they decide to produce their own BillPod.
It will only serve to strengthen Linux distributions and make the adoption of Linux on the desktop a less daunting experience for existing Windows users. Great stuff guys!
With a pair of Chinese and Japanese software companies developing a version of Linux for the Asian market I'm sure that M$ can already see their potential market shrinking. I'm also pretty sure that many at M$ are worried about the desktop deal that Sun has struck with China. So M$ tries to counter these moves with a language pack? I'm sure that M$ is going to have to try a lot harder than that!
With all the memory leaks in the.NET framework (I'm talking about the MS version of the.NET framework here) why would anyone, in their right mind, want to turn their C code into something that runs like crap?
Surely if there are more Linux desktops out there (Low-end or high-end) it raises the overall number of people using Linux, which in turn increases exposure and awareness. With awareness come insight and knowledge (I hope), so it'll just be a natural progression to high-end users WANTING Linux on their workstations.
"massive investment of time in learning MySQL (we're talking years, here)"
But SQL is SQL and apart form the usual database specific extensions, it is standard. So applications built on top of SQL compliant database engines should port with ease.
Probably has more to do with comfort zones than anything else.
Sorry about the silly offtopic 1st post but I just couldn't resist.
More seriously, I have been following the twin rover missions with great interest and I think it's absolutely amazing what they (And the JPL team of course) have achieved. I looked with great interest at the pic of our "pale blue (Even though the pic is monochrome) dot"
Even on the relatively tiny (In relation to astronomical standards) scale of a view from our nearest neighbour, it is truly humbling to realise just how insignificant our rock, in the greater scheme of things, really is.

Pretty smart for a dumb redneck!
We're a bit isolated in this part of Africa. We only got electricity a few weeks ago :o) - Just kiddin' of course.

Now my pc will burn with the rest off my house! Aggggg!
Good idea, but wearing headphones to bed is a problem. The cord isn't long enough.

Earplugs! Haven't you ever tried them? They work wonders with my noisy PC... Huh?! What did you say?
I just hope my wife doesn't get her hands on one of these things!
Oh boy! Your brain must have got all soft and squishy from sitting on it too much!
