You're already seeing product placement in the actual tv show. The ads are where much of the money comes from and since downloaded versions of shows cut out the ads I'm sure you'll see more and more product placement in a show than before. I believe this has become more common ever since devices like Tivo have become available, which is a very similar concept... watch what you want, when you want and ad free.
What's the deal with using the term "solar disc" instead of the usual "sun"? I'm not sure if using the former is supposed to make the event sound more impressive or what?
Why is the lady in that picture purple? Is the display that bright that she matches the flowers? Or is there some funky radiation coming out of that thing that has given her a nice glowing purple tan?
Corel tried writing their word processing software entirely in Java 5 or so years ago and it failed rather miserably, but that's most likely because they were way ahead of their time and java was not the fastest platform to be running software on at that time.
I agree hemp should be used more often for things later paper, etc, but wouldn't soy make better use of the land and produce even more biodeisal than the same amount of land growing hemp? I don't think hemp is the best source to produce biodiesal from... but sure, it's something.
Sorry, I don't have any links to back this up, but this has been mentioned in previous/. threads on the subject of alternative fuels.
I'm not an open source zealot. I agree that you can't always just give things away, but it would be nice. I just think it's too bad that the guy who is making no money from something can't afford to buy these tools to create something. Time and time again, I'd like to learn how do something, but can't afford the software to do so. I realize there are trust issues with this as well... but I'm just doing some wishful thinking. If somebody wants to profit from other peoples work then sure, charge them for use of the tools.
I suppose I wasn't clear. What I meant was, too bad ideas weren't more openly shared. By your response, you're probably a hardcore capitalist and you're thinking I'm a hardcore communist.:) It's the american way to patent all ideas possible to stifle innovation. I suppose you think that everyone involved in the open source movement are good for nothing commies eh?
And good job to all those who modded somebody insightful for comparing giving away free cars to giving away software and ideas.
Oh yeah, some of this post is tongue and cheek... better make that clear for those mod point kiddies out there.:)
Sure would be cool if all these companies released their products to the public as free tools for educational use. Imagine the independant stuff that could be produced with it. I suppose this is the case with most other industries which is unfortunate... too bad everyone couldn't share their stuff to benefit all.:(
This is the type of company I'd like my investment dollars to go towards and not the usual wal-mart and mcdonalds type stocks. These types of companies are only going to become more and more important (I hope).
What are some of the better resources (ie. web)available out there where I can find more information?
I had the exact same problem and tech-support was telling me a whole pile of things that it could be. Gotta be your modem, we'll check our end, maybe the lines are bad, blah blah blah for almost a week. I finally did my own research and found out that my MTU was set incorrectly. I changed that one little number and speeds were solid after that.
I lost my faith in tech-support after that experience.
Must be a simple typo, I'm sure he meant to use the word shiznit instead.

The american goverment spends piles of money on military. If they only funneled more of this cash towards research of new energy technologies, we'd be well on our way to a less dependant life on oil.
Do not buy corporate funded american products.
Do not go to corporate funded american movies.

Here in Canada, at least in Manitoba, they've had TV over the phone line for a little while now.
Here's their website.
I don't know first hand what people's experiences have been with it though.

You filter the oil first... if it's used from a restaurant then you'd filter it a number of times before actually using it.
I have discovered a truly marvelous demonstration of a 10 million digit prime which this margin is too narrow to contain.
That sure is some bridge, but must be a real eyesore to those who have to live near it.

I didn't see any mention of farcry. It's on par with Doom3 and Half-Life 2 and it's reviews have been very positive... check it out.
