"Predicts it will pass" and "it will pass" are 2 different things.
Does anyone honestly still doubt that Microsoft are pieces of sh*t who should be dismantled?
Why does Sony care if porn is on it's format? Are you telling me they've learned nothing from history? Who are these people? 17th century shogun? Jesus mother. Like just put on a blind fold and have a cigarette.
"Most corporations do of course mostly obey the law, not least because breaking them often carries great risk, which outweigh the potential benefits"
That's not true. Most of the time the consequences are a slap on the wrist.
It's all about cost benefit analysis. Check it out.

Friedman's opinion is besides the point. The fact is corporations DO behave exactly as how Freidman says they should. Of course Corporations like everyone else should obey the law. That's very primitive and immature of you to even mention that. I mean, you'd have to have some kind of mental retardation not to believe that... the issue is that Corporations DON'T always obey the law. Most of the time the consequences for breaking the law are a slap on the wrist. There are exceptions like Enron for blatant manipulation but really it's all about cost benefit analysis. If the cost of breaking the law and paying the fees is cheaper than not breaking the law than the corporations will break the law. In fact, if you look at corporate law for most of the world BY LAW Corporations MUST put their shareholders ahead of everything else. Ahead of the environment, ahead of people or stakeholders. Sometimes they pretend to be socially responsible and may in fact put money into socially responsible things if they get something out of it but as soon as it undermines the bottom line then see you later. There's case after case in history of this. This isn't news. People think they know what's going on, most of them don't have a clue. They think everything is alright, it's not so bad, I can get back to watching football and feel good. It's screwed up royally. If you want proof of what I'm saying. Read "The Corporation: The pathological pursuit of profit and power" or watch the documentary The Corporation. Read Chomsky books. You can find out so much, but you have to do a lot of reading or watching. It's an on-going process of knowledge like with everything you can't just be like ok, I've seen this I'm convinced this is how it is so I don't have to waste my time watching or reading anything else because I know the truth. No...

I think many F/OSS developers tend to have this attitude that they're developing software for themselves or for the F/OSS community... as opposed to developing software that is intuitive for anyone and everyone to use. And I think that's the KEY to making OSS software mainstream. Design it with OTHERS in mind. Design it to be intuitive to use right from the begining otherwise I don't see F/OSS software becoming mainstream. And I'm in no way suggesting replacing power with easy of use. The two can go hand in hand but it's not that easy.... but it's easier if you have the right frame of mind.
He said he wouldn't be surprised. He didn't say they ARE geting funding from microsoft. I wouldn't be surprised either... given microsoft's history noone should be surprised that they would do something like this. In fact I'd expect it. He's just being open to the possibility, you moron. It's not bullshit or FUD.
F*ck me christ almighty god damn hell. If Vista concentrates more on security HOW IS THAT A BAD THING! MY GOD! USE LINUX! The thing is, Vista won't concentrate on security! It'll be a bigger piece of spyware than XP ever was. Secure windows is an oxymoron you morons.
This is yet another blatant attempt by an americans to take away a good idea from Canadians and put it into the hands of americans. Just like they successfully did with the avro arrow and degressi. American companies took them down so that the money could flow their way. It's what america does. f*cuk you america.
The point is that there's that option to fix it yourself if you know what you're doing. Even though the option only applies to people in the know at least there is that option. It's not a convincing response on it's own obivously. That's why he coupled it with "a patch has been already released"... or you can couple it with patches get released relatively quickly. It's not a huge deal but at least there is that option unlike with closed source. Having more options can only help, however small that help may be in the big picture, still it's a plus over closed source.
I'd just like to know how it is that Opera has so many features and it takes the firefox team relatively forever to patch a seemingly serious security flaw. Opera has voice already and a slew of other features plus it's faster! It seems to be taking the firefox team forever to do anything. At this point they're just ripping off Opera now. This is ridiculous. Get your act together firefox team.
What the hell is wrong with people? Seriously... Doesn't anyone remember that the original playstation and the Saturn debuted at $499!? Actually, Sega changed the pricing at the last minute to $399 for saturn. My god... the PS2 was more than 299 at launch. I'd be pissed if the 360 or PS3 sold for $299 USD at launch. They could skimp out on quality and have your system stop working properly if you play too many movies on it like the PS2. Get real people.
This is nausiating to say the least. We (Canada) have so much land, we don't needs hans. Let's stop acting like fucken god damn 2 year olds and let Greenland have it, who cares! It makes me sick that this is even is even deemed newsworthy in the slightest!
Firefox already has a google search bar. Who the fuck cares about this crap. And it's a non-open source toolbar at that. Completely redundant and useless.
Reduced dependence on software venders directly correlates with Lower total cost of ownership. To rely less on venders means you will save money on overpriced equipment and support costs as einhverfr pointed out.
You can discard this study based on that reason... becasue 1) historically it's been done time and time again by Microsoft and pretty blatantly. Ignoring shit like this should be a knee jerk reaction by now. 2) Who gives a shit. It's useless information. No one's life depends on this. That's only one aspect of running a server. People can find out for themselves if they want to anyways.
Some people have already explained why it's bogus, IIS was heavily tweaked and Veritest basically only compares 3DES+SHA1 with RC4+MD5.
ha! That was funny... ya, they won't accept my story on an important documentary but hey, let's help this retard try to save $5 on a motherboard. Fucken gimps.
...in that since the first computer was built computers have more than double every whatever... they've gone beyond moore's law. IF you're talking about shitty consumer PC's then maybe... but we'll go way beyond that in the future. If Intel or AMD wanted to, they could scrap silicon wafers and use whatever the hell they wnated to, whatever material is better. It's not economically viable right now, but any company if they wanted to could shatter moore's law right now. The reason it isn't being done is because of economics, which will be obsolete in the future anyways. As soon as people start doing things for the sake of kicking ass and bettering society then we'll fly to other galaxies and moore's law will be known as the law of mental retardation, when pigs who will burn in hell ruled the world.
jaeson is right... How is the USA NOT a corporate-controlled nightmare? Read a fucken book, preferably something from by Chomsky, watch the Corporation and fuck off you stupid idiot. People aren't hypocrites for using iTunes then cracking the DRM. I don't use it myself so I don't know but maybe there are other redeeming qualities that make iTunes better than other online music stores. And frankily shit is a ripoff anyways. $15 for a fucken CD which mostly goes to the label? I don't think so. I mean I could stem from there and show you why the entire planet is a mostly corporate controlled nightmare. Hopefully you're not some mother fucker who drives an SUV and wears a suit everyday to work because one day people like that will be shot just for being them deservedly so.
People don't want to pay thousands of dollars for old games arcade or whatnot. As far as I'm concerned it's all a ridiculous ripoff. Computer/console games are technology. Technology depreciates in value, simple as god damn that. At a certain point your game will be near worthless or a very low cost. Don't give me this bullshit like oh, poeple still love these game, their value should be a lot higher. Go to hell. If Ultracade is stupid enough to be willing to pay big bucks for old shit then they can go to hell. Maybe I'll just download 100 roms off bittorrent right now, how about that assholes? Fuck you Ultracade and fuck you asshole comapanies that sell your old shit for a premium. This just makes me want to DL your crap even more, and I'm not even going to play it just share it in my shared folder.
"Predicts it will pass" and "it will pass" are 2 different things. Does anyone honestly still doubt that Microsoft are pieces of sh*t who should be dismantled?
If anything there should really be a month of YouTube bugs! That site is notorious.
Isn't Cassini the name of a Sega Saturn emulator?
Why does Sony care if porn is on it's format? Are you telling me they've learned nothing from history? Who are these people? 17th century shogun? Jesus mother. Like just put on a blind fold and have a cigarette.
