allowed gameby games to come with 16(iirc) colours, but only when played on the super-gameboy
If the game supported Super Gameboy it could show around 16. If it was pre-super gameboy however, it could only show 4 colors for the sprites and another 4 colors for the backgrounds.
Seriously though, I think that at the highest level, football has as much strategy as a good game chess.
I mean, on defense there is the: 4-3, 3-4, 4-3 and 3-4 blitzes and their millions of variations, the cover 2, zone, the zone blitz, the 46 popularized by the Chicago bears, ad nauseum.
And on offense: the flying wedge(illegal now), the shotgun, the I formation, the split wing, the single wing, the pro formation, the T formation, ad naseum.
A good coach has thousands of plays in his or her playbook and so does the opposition. A lot to take account of, therefore necessary for a good strategy to overcome one's weaknesses. Unlike chess where their is only one skirmish, football(and soccer for that matter) can have 100 or more skirmishes. Though, much like chess, football can be played by those ignorant of strategy. But, like chess, they often lose.
Don't forget that like football, chess is nothing more than a game.
Yeah, but FreeBSD and GNU/Linux both use GCC. So neither has a leg up. So even if it was a flawed benchmark, which I don't quite see, it's on a level playing field. If it's on a level playing field, a flawed benchmark is still valid.
I agree that python is great all around; useful and light. But I just don't understand this rabid anti-java sentiment here on slashdot. I mean no one is holding a gun to your head to use it.
Also have you considered that this might be an implementation problem on Kaffe's part? Imean wouldn't something like the KVM be a better option?
/* There are still folks out there running DOS 3, not to mention the Cult of the Amiga and the Trash-80 and the Timex-Sinclair. How do you put a stake through the heart of these beasts? (esp. one that Big Blue sold to banks, governments, etc). */
Why should anyone stop doing what their doing? If it works use it, if it's more fun stick with it!
I swear sometimes people can get way too anal retentive. GNU/Linux for example or the whole BSD code fork or Intel's rush for USB 2.0 (cuz' it's not apple). Etc, etc, etc...

Mandrake has ISOs for Alpha, i486 and Sparc.
Nobody is hurting for non Intel linux distrobutions. Red Hat supports Sparc and Alpha. Etc...
AMD is just clearing out old stock
on
Athlons Sold Out
·
· Score: 4
AMD is replacing the Athlon in one to two weeks with the Thunderbird and Spitfire chips. They didn't just run out of chips, they are changing product lines.

166, that's luxury! I'm writing this from a P100!
I like CR, but they never seem to have up-to-date stuff on the things I want to buy.
But, everytime they do that, 2 new ones sprout up in its place. You can never win...
You can a lot of nifty things with plain old dos. Just imagine the demos you could run with a 1.2GHz Athlon?

It looks much nicer when when one links the printable version of a story. That is, when there is the option.

If you weren't paying attention, they were altered
by IGN in order to put their logo on the images.
Therefore the header info is irrelevent, no?

He was a true Hacker that busted that Cracker named Mitnick.
Agreed!
if free software != $0.00
level of interest == "who cares"
else "Whoopee!"
I believe GCC is the official compiler for PS2.
Linux, on the other hand, no.
How about Pentium is not CISC
Or PPC is not RISC
Who knows, better yet, who cares.
I swear sometimes people can get way too anal retentive.

Whatever, not like I care.

What else is there? Z80?
Why would they include an HDTV decoder?
Internet Appliances perhaps?
Linux support is a definite plus.
Actually the current AOL disc has IE 5 on it.

But, I'm afraid of Sister Ray. Not to mention Weapon!
I believe I read Dave Ditzel say, "...it will even re-produce BSOD's faithfully", or something like that.
They have essentially built a Japanese Compact Car that is fuel efficient, and not an Italian sports car.
It's like the Mazda RX-7 of microprocessors!
It does it a little different and a little better.
