"Reporters bias their output by deciding which facts are most important to their audience"
That is false, since the reporter cant get into anyone's heads to actually know for sure what we want from the news, so he makes a choice for the viewer based on his views and mostly what his boss wants to air. True objectivity is like neutrality, it doesnt exist because by deciding to show or not show or posing an action or not posing an action will give a different outcome, thus making even your inaction a direct action.
What is scary is if you install a windows version prior to win xp service pack 2, you are at a very high risk of getting a worm, unless you do your updates internally without connecting to the web (sus server or such). Patching win2k takes about 45 minutes with all the reboots in between give or take, and even after that 45 minutes, you still dont have a firewall!
Installing any O.S. should have a warning that says that prior to connecting to the internet you should install a firewall to secure your machine (Windows mainly) People tell horror story about xp service pack 2 but at least you cant get a worm when it's there.
-- Again i suggest that people try win2k unpatched with no firewall and see how much time it takes to get infected--
In fact i also think that the death penalty will probably make the criminals act more desperately to save their hides when police tries to catch them, thus making it a bigger bloodshed!
What wouldnt you do, to avoid being caught and sentenced to death?
i can just see those headsets making the news in 10 years. "guy wanted to take his messages and the interface went down while driving at high speed on the freeway"
People have a hard time enough driving and speaking on the cellphone, making a headset that completely covers your eyes is dangerous.
And trust me there will be an ass (female or male) that will try using this while driving.
hahahha blindly hate microsoft. now where do you get this idea. i was just stating the obvious!
And nowhere in my comment did i say I HATE Microsoft.
The fact remains that by default remote desktop is enabled on the computer and the firewall of xp let's anyone connect to the p.c. Even though the connecting user must have a valid password and username. Any remote software is a hasard, some morre than others. And the article doesnt say ms anti-spyware is not good, it only says that it is now buying one company that is considered by many as a spyware and that the famous ms anti-spyware doesnt give you the option of removing it but simply ignore or disable. The real conflict is when Anti-spyware companies accept money to change their software to accept known spyware. Microsoft, by buying this company, is making people uneasy about how reliable is their commitment to provide objective protection concerning spyware.
Well you can add dameware and pc anywhere to your list because they are distant remote control software and some spyware will threat them as dangerous. Why doesnt remote desktop show as a possible threat? It's easier to connect to a remote host with that software! OH yeah right,,,it's a ms product!
thinking back on the books! your right, I can compare it Robert Jordan's wheel of time, started out great but the story got very confusing and too many characters to follow.
Tad is also the only author i read that did a something on cyberspace. Never read cyberpunk type novel.Maybe i should try one.
And it takes from 8 to infinte weeks to get the actual refund + s&h.
The comparison is wrong!

How about tad Williams's otherland!
He's not Super Hardcore geek guy! but i thought that his 4 books on VR gone crazy was good! it's a sci-fi fantasy novel though, not just techie stuff.
Reading this review is like seeing too many previews from a movie! you know you've seen all the good thing and it's pretty pointless to go see the movie.
Yes you can have both! People should stop thinking in black and white. Why give rights to a kid that you know is not good for him. If i understand what your writing is that to try kids as adults we should also give them the same rights, like driving at 12, drinking, smoking and all that shit? That's rigid thinking! There is place for shades of grey in the law.
When i say not an adult prison but maybe a kid prison with same rules except kids! that's easy to figure out! But not one of those detention centers, something that'll scare the shit out of them! and not just that slap on the wrist "oh mommy didnt love you enough so you killed someone, it's forgivable because your only seventeen but if you were 18 you would have been responsable"
What is the difference in the intentions of a 17 years old on the dawn of his 18th birthday. Does the brain automaticaly switch to "responsable and aware of consequences" when he hits 18. Of course kids that does violent crimes should be tried as adult (maybe not sent to an adult prison).
I mean seriously if a 13 year old kills another kid because he hated him or something like that, it's still a murder and the fact that he is a kid doesnt change how serious it is.
Kids have it too good these days, they know they can do what the f?&$?$ they want till they are 18 and the law protects them.
And it goes for kids doing harm in computers with worms or other viruses.
There is no difference except for security reason and some nice tweaks from firefox. Other than that you have the Anti-Microsoft gang, and the fact that you cant use automatic updates with firefox, your stuck with IE. Bad move from Microsoft to limit automatic updates to his browser.
What bothers me about google tools like pop-up blocker and the famous google desktop are that people dont realize or dont talk about the legitimate pop-up windows it blocks. I see people wondering why they cant access some secure website, bank account or do task because that pop-up blocker has just prevented the "click yes" button that was in the pop-up windows. As for the google desktop search, i installed it and then tried to search files in this manner *.*exe and it didnt understand what i was searching for, i then reverted to windows own search engine and, to my surprise, Google search had overrun the utility and i couldn search my computer the way i wanted. Maybe there was a setting in the google desktop search that i didnt setup but these are things that people should take in account before installing everything about google. Dont get me wrong i use firefox and the google toolbar, but i have to revert to IE because it's not supported everywhere (mainly ms-win update).
I know i'm offtopic, but People should adress the good and the bad about google.
The thing i find strange is that on the news this morning they reported that the first explosion were in the subway. So shuttles buses were put in place to handle the people but the bus was rigged too. That's one longshot.
No but your more likely to get attacked if you always have the same ip, and this single result backs up this article. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one who has gotten a virus in less than 30 minutes without a firewall.
Just leave your computer open and live on the internet without a firewall. I guarantee you that in less than 30 minutes, you will porbbaly catch something. It's even faster if you have a static I.P.
I know, i was testing some vpn inside my company and i hooked the laptop to my external hub and it took about 20 minutes to get a worm, and i wasnt doing anything and my win2k was fully patched.
You still need to pay for your phone service unless you have cable for internet, but again will you not need a phone number so people can call you? if i'm not mistaking you still need to pay for that unless the companies who offer this services also provides you with a number so you can receive incoming calls.
