While the PSP is not region free for UMD movies, it is region free for the games. You can import games without using a hacked firmware(which I have done in order to get Parodius Portable). The only real use of the hacked firmware is to allow for 2 things, the first being the ability to run homebrew code and the second to run pirated copies of games. The majority of hacked firmware PSP owners will tell you they do it for the former, but nearly all of them really do it for the latter.
Personally, I own one and don't have it hacked because it seems an awful lot of trouble just to save myself the 10 or 15 bucks that most used games cost on the thing. I wouldn't mind having the ability to play some emulators on it, but that's about all the use I could see getting out of hacking it.
My big question about the PSP Go is how I'm supposed to play all my UMD games on the new system. I wonder if it will come with an external UMD drive for loading games onto the internal memory or if they intend for you to have both a PSP Go and an older PSP for loading your games.
I don't agree, but I see no point in continuing this. A debate on slash dot will not resolve this anyway. The right or denial of such right is not specifically handled by the constitution for this situation. Historically in those cases the government continues on as if it has the right, whether you like it or not. And the only thing that can remove that right is a trip to the supreme court.
Now whether you agree with me or not, that is what is going to happen. And it's my belief that this will be deemed legal since you have no expectation of privacy on a public road. I could certainly be wrong about that though, and I'd guess we both hope for that.
Where in the constitution can I find that? Is there a page in there somewhere that says that yon foppish dandy cannot take account of mine actions whilst I take my carriage about town?
I expect a lot of people to mention that this is a violation of privacy, but I can't agree. When you take your car out onto the road, you're driving around in the wide open public. Your license plate is in clear view. Your windows allow people to see your face.
It's difficult for me to complain about some one or some government paying attention to what is right there for them to see, even when they pay that attention to every single car on the road and drop all the collected data into a searchable database.
As many of you may know, Metallica used to be a heavy metal band famous in the 80's and 90's. This band released great albums such as Ride the Lightning. Many of the fans felt that the feel of Metallica changed with the self titled "black" album. Some felt it to be the band's best album. Some felt it was a sign of things to come. Over the next few albums Metallica continued to lose sales and popularity.
During the fall in popularity/sales, a new movement in music was happening. The internet was becoming very popular and with it a new file format for holding audio called "mp3". These mp3 files made it easy to share music over the internet, even on the then prevalent narrow band modem connections.
Metallica, the business not the band, found themselves in a position where they were losing sales. They were unwilling to look at themselves for the reason they weren't selling as well as before. Perhaps the most vocal member of Metallica, Lars Ulrich began to point the finger at the mp3 format and the service Napster as the reason for the lower sales numbers. Never was it mentioned that underperforming albums such as Reload or Garage, Inc. might be the underlying cause.
What we all need to remember is how hard it is to look at yourself as the problem in a bad situation. Metallica, either the business or the band, took a great deal of time looking for outward reasons as to why no one was listening to them anymore. Perhaps had they taken the time to look at a breakdown of those mp3 downloads and seen that the majority of downloads were for the older and widely considered better music they might have seen the light sooner.
But now, it's far too late. Perhaps if they changed their name to Rockica or Popica instead of Metallica they could gain some new fans. I'm too busy listening to all the bands that the old Metallica inspired over the last 30+ years.
Yeah, Kent has been reminding me of the release date of San Andreas for PC for months now. The guys can't wait for it to come out so they can start modifying MTA to work on it.
I read your book(Just A Geek) and in it you refer to William Shatner as WILLIAM FUCKING SHATNER. I was just wondering about that. Why do you call him that? Was there one specific event that occurred?
I hate to say this, but I think it's a good idea to release virii that patch security holes if done in a way that will cause minimal problems for the rest of us.
So why not have the white knight virus author send his code to Symantec, McAfee and the rest 2 or more weeks before he releases the virus. They can then add it to the virus defs, and those of us who keep our systems patched don't get affected. Businesses that roll out security and virus updates in a timely matter should have it patched before it hits.
Then the virus hits a few weeks later and the only people with problems are those that didn't patch in time.
Yes, but my point was that as a post of score 1, I have no face to save. For shit's sake man. 10 minutes. You could have been doing something so much more meaningful with your time.
You're absolutely right. I feel stupid for citing the wrong verse.
Also, I do believe we should replace marriage with civil unions. I have no problem whatsoever with a gay couple being together in some form or fashion in the eyes of the government. I just believe that if it's called a marriage, that there is at least an implication that the union is in the eyes of God. That is something I can't agree with.
Finally, I must say that you are the bitch. You see, you wasted a considerable amount of time out of your no doubt busy schedule to flame a post that had a score of 1. Everyone else chose to ignore the moron with the bad grammar and incorrect sitings from the bible. You however, in your infinite wisdom, chose to attack with great vengence and furious bible siting. You are the king of your castle. You are the master of your domain. You shine brightly as the great Cock of Gibraltar.
If you want to argue that separation of church and state bullshit here, then you need to argue that marriage should be removed from state, as it is based on religious ideals. The bible says defines marriage for a man and a woman. It also lays down homosexuality as against God(Leviticus 25:13). In today's society, different religions see things differently. Some churches allow homosexual marriage. Most don't. But most people can clearly agree that marriage is at least originally a religious concept, and should be removed complete from our government.
The videogame industry doesn't focus mainly on pc games, it encompasses console games as well. I can't remember any console game where I had to type in a cd key. I can't remember playing one that I didn't have the original media for. I don't remember need a no cd hack because consoles don't work the way our pc's do. Pay for Play online gaming has been tried as a business model before, and never has worked out. The closest we came in the states was Sega.Net, which tanked.
What do I know? It may change and videogame companies may start doing pay for play. But try and remember that these companies want as much of your money as possible. I know I'm willing to pay more for a box and a disc that for a download link on a subscription service.
My bet is, console games will continue to be the industry focus, and the pc ports will contain whatever hacked in protection is sexy at the time. The only places we're likely to see "innovation" in pc game protection is with games like Half life 2, where pc development is the central focus.
When using your AMD based PDA at the campgrounds, always practice safety. Surround your PDA with rocks to keep the fire from spreading. Be sure when you're done with your PDA to put it out with a bucket of water and make sure it has stopped smoking before you leave the area.
Remember what Smokey the Bear says. Only you can prevent your AMD based PDA from starting a forest fire.
Sure, the new 7600 from Nokia has everything. But if we all just wait, we can get the Nokia 7800, with all the features of the 7600 plus the ability to turn into a car or jet plane and fight evil robots and dinosaurs and stuff.
And while I'm waiting, I'll get the NGage instead, because the last thing I need is a cellphone that's just a cellphone. I need to spend way too much money on something that has tons of awesome features, but as a phone has bad reception and drops calls all the time.
I guess the Fresh Prince was right. Parents just don't understand. Sure the TV is a great babysitter. It's always there, always on, always ready to show your kids gruesome violence and hot nasty sex when you aren't checking what they are watching. Videogames are great too. Anything to keep the kids occupied. Wait, my baby is a killer? Huh? What? MY FAULT? Hell no it isn't my fault. I'm a parent, so nothing is my fault. It must be that videogame he played. That's the problem. In fact, I'm suing the game companies. While I'm at it, I think I should sue Smith & Wesson. They make guns right? Obviously they're the problem. Also, I should sue McDonalds for my fat ass. And Dell for all that computer pron I have. Oh, and Western Digital for making the hard drive that it's on. And we have to sue the government, because I'm sure they've done something wrong. Or maybe, just maybe I shouldn't have bought a F***ING MATURE RATED GAME for my 4 year old.
