I'm an attempted developer and determined Linux user, I guess you could say.
I _try_ and program, but usually leave a project half completed as I have no motivation to continue.
My musical preferences are that of 80s Metal (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth...), I also enjoy some mellow music (Led Zeppelin, Incubus, RHCP, Green Day, Nirvana.. The list continues) and finally some digital music (Industrial - Nine Inch Nails...)

Software design topics (design patterns and its relatives, UML, alternative paradigms such as extreme programming)
It's an old book but "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software" by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides, is still very useful.
It's a great book for me, I still go back to it and read, even though I am no C++ programmer, the book also covers smalltalk which is a very nice language.
I kind of understand what's happening here, because if we were busted in DOS (While I was in High School), that would be considered hacking, and we would get suspended, I think that was because DOS was a whole new world to the teachers who thought GUIs were the beginning and end of computers.
Maybe it's not really the school saying he hacked their box', maybe they're more just getting him in trouble for the fact he was in DOS.
I'm 17. My computer is in my bedroom, so I barely ever leave my bedroom, unless it's for school. I trust my parents won't go snooping around my computer while I'm not there (Plus, they wouldn't know how, even if they wanted to:P) I think my parents trust me, they know I wouldn't do anything, that would result in my getting in trouble (i.e. Warez, pirating porn keys, whatever) If they didn't want me doing something, they'd ask me not to do it. My parents don't ask questions about what I do online. So, I don't have to keep secrets from them, if they did ask me some day, I would be more than happy to share with them what I do. Heck, my parents probably look at porn more than me.
I *do* leave my door shut, but that's not because I'm doing something naughty, and I don't want anyone to see. That's just simply, I don't like having my door open.
To the guy who said IRC was the root of all evil: That's the biggest piece of *Excretia* I have ever heard. IRC has nothing to do with what's evil, it's the people who use IRC, if you don't want your kids doing things on IRC, restrict them, by asking them not to go there (Don't put on blocks, because curiosity gets the better of people, and they'll know it's blocked, so they'll find a way around it, just to see what it is.)
Above all, you should *try* and make your children aware of the what goes on, online. Communication is the best way. Don't just try and block them from doing things. Tell them WHY they shouldn't be doing these things.
That's quite true.
I think people should be aiming at maybe just making OpenGL a little more mature, so it can outperform say DirectX 9 (I think that's what it's at now?)
Then I think/hope companies will start creating more games for Linux, I know, if there were more games on the market for Linux, I would buy them for sure.
Although, most 'geeks' I know, have given Linux a try, but gave up, due to the fact Linux has no gaming abilities, I haven't let that fail me yet, I won't, because I hope sooner or later, some companies will release games for Linux (I'd really like that to be sooner ^_^)
Yeah well, that's kinda what I hope to be doing when I am older... However, at the moment, it seems my fortae(sp?) is networking...

Hehehe, how good is it :)
I too, have bed sheets stapled to my windows to prevent light entering and burning my pale fair skin :)
What The Hell...
Hah, agreed. That would take out sco faster than any else *Rolls Eyes*

I know, I'm incredibly sad.
Hey, I call my computer my best friend.
