I'm not sure what you're talking about, this isn't some technological "war" where both parties are on a level playing field. The enemy uses IED's and other low tech explosives and weapons to get the job done. To assume that they would go through the trouble or are even capable of checking for an "Electro Magnetic Leaks" is absurd.
Not to mention it's near impossible to deduce which type of device is being used based on a probably non-existent electrical signal. If it were really an concern we would be using this technology to sniff out our enemies too, no? Why isn't this technology being used if it's so simple?
Your comment is definitely not interesting, you're just one more person spreading rumors to fuel this countries fear of war and terrorism. We have the most technologically advanced army in the world and to imply we can be easily tracked and spotted when we don't want to be would mean we can be defeated.

So I can't simply read the information and then brute force the key? One presumes that all somebody needs is to get their hands on one or more of these passports, figure out the key schema, and then write a program to try to crack the RFID information using the most likely keys.
Effectively getting you what? Finger prints and photos of you that they can't use? I'm sure the governments realize this isn't the safest technology, it's not crack proof. I'm fairly certain these changes are just meant to speed up long lines in customs and make it harder to fake a passport. No more replacing the picture and viola you're someone else.
I don't understand what the big deal is, why is this technology so flawed? What can be done with this that couldn't be done before? No, RFID triggered bombs aren't a vaild complaint, your big tourist hawaiian shirt, camera around your neck, and fat gut gives you away more than your RFID passport. Even with the data from your RFID chip, I can't see an instance where having that data would allow an attacker to do anything they couldn't do already.
Why is everyone against RFID? Do you think it violates your privacy or is it a fear of technology being put to use? Maybe you just like idling in a queue all day while customs check's your passport...

I'm a PHP developer but I also write Perl and C as part of my daily job. I use PHP for all my web development, anything that has a web front end will undoubtedly be written in PHP though I have done Perl and C for web (I still hate cgi). Perl I use mainly for sysadmin type applications, easy way to automate my tasks when they're more complex than a simple BASH script will do (database connections and socket work mainly). I use C when I'm writting applications that need to be quick and light. Creating servers, forking and handling memory just can't be done with perl or php with any kind of grace or speed. Though I have created servers and daemons and other such things with perl and PHP I stick with C for anything that needs to run in the background as a daemon or as an interactive application.

I tried out flock but I need my firefox extensions and they don't seem to work with flock. (even after being converted to work with flock)
I really wish I could use it, the interface is so slick, I just want to have a sexy skin like that. Does anyone know where I can find an up to date flock skin? The ones I've seen are all old and don't look too great.
I'm confused, are you saying that WD40 offered one service for a long time and only recently decided to start selling more products because it was a wise business decision?
I'm failing to see your point, or anyone elses regarding google not being like WD40, google has been about search for quite some time (in internet years) and now they're diversifying their product line. I just don't understand how WD40 is different, maybe because google hasen't been running their search engine for 37 years?
Then again I could have missed the point completely and it's just reason to hate google etc.
Thumb drives are fairly cheap, if it's your workplace you'd assume one of your coworkers lost it. I'd attempt to return it if I found it around the office, why would you hold on to something cheap that might belong to someone you know? You might bring it in one day and a coworker would say "Hey that's mine" that would be awkward, not to mention everyone would think you're a theif.
I don't watch TV (unless it's recorded or a DVD) or listen to the radio and I realized I don't know what's going on with new movies and products. Oddly it's kind of like being disconnected from the world, I don't know what to use.
Not saying it's a bad thing, just that I don't know when new things are going on.
Maybe I just know more sysadmin types? A system administrator doesn't upgrade unless he has to, having a working system is better than being bleeding edge.
Desktop systems and Servers are completely different in that respect.

As someone else mentioned, it's really about the tools to create this. If you have a nice 3D environment to generate these maps then it wouldn't be a problem. If you don't like the way it looks you go in and change it, you don't muck around with a bunch of math to come up with it. You make an editor to allow you to do it how you like.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who cringed while reading that.

He just told you, alot of their problems stem from compatability, they wrote the original code for a certain platform but it needs to be versatile and run on many now. Hacks in the code are what drives down performance, OS X is to look pretty and it's plenty responsive for me. I like having a good looking and easy to use desktop while still being able to have a shell and development environment, if it means I have to live with a slight slowdown compared to other operating systems then so be it.
Really the only way to fix the problem is to rewrite, and probably remove compatability with older technology, Windows does it all the time.
Most Windows computers at one point have connected to Windows Update, also IE defaults to MSN, isn't there a getting started page as well when you first open IE after install?
It's just simple observation to say that the only site that would be consistent on every Windows system is a Microsoft site, somewhat how on my mac I am connected to apple after a clean install when I open Safari. One could say the only site that would be consistent on every mac would be apple.com.
At work I drive an escalade it takes about 50 dollars in gas every 3 days.... I'd say the car makes me look cool, but I dislike driving it because I have to constantly keep an eye on the fuel gauge.
I dont see how anyone would want to pay insane prices for gas no matter how cool their car looks, I'll stick to my simple fuel efficient car for now.
You get the privilege to use OS X and the main reason you aren't using linux is no support for your wifi card? for shame, I would never even think of switching to linux on my PB, it's people like you who make me cry to sleep every night.

I'm pretty sure from what I read of their FAQ that the encryption/decryption is all client side. I wouldn't imagine they keep the PIN on their server.
I haven't looked at the actual firefox extension but it wouldn't make sense to offer encryption and still store the PIN.

Most of these participants are probably from slashdot, meaning linux users.
If this were news on an OS X site or a BSD site then their numbers would be up. Use some common sense man.
Well even if it could predict where it would be fired that doesn't mean it can tell how strong or weak the impact will be.
If it over corrects it would damage the crew inside, who knows, maybe it is correcting and the shaking and such isn't as bad as it would be otherwise.
