I've never had a need to print anything from my phone but taking a look on the Market there appears to be a couple free apps that allow you to print via wifi.
I'm not familiar with the nix apps you mentioned but I see some remote desktop apps on the market as well.
Basically, there's an app for anything you could want. And if it doesn't exist, it can be made without any hassle by big brother. That's what makes Android great.
It does seem strange it's only got 1.6 on it. Maybe it'll be upgraded later but the lack of a keyboard is a deal breaker for me. I really wish phone makers would think more about functionality rather then appearances.
Wow now that I think about it I personally Can't think of a walmart without a light. Sure there's probably a few where local laws prohibit a light (i.e. they have to be so far apart in most states), but I'd be willing to bet 95% of walmarts have a light.
That's exactly what I want. And the technology exists. Sadly, it's a niche market. Tablets themselves are sort of a niche so I doubt we'll ever see one with a quality high resolution interface that would allow for artwork to be made. We can dream though.
That S^3 seems to be on par with everything else but I don't see anything new or better then what's already out there. Besides, it's just one more phone without a keyboard. That immediately disqualifies it from my dollars.
Ok I'll give you that, in 2010. And that's perfect logic if you run a business in the present. In a couple years the majority of content is going to be HD though. Even cell phones have HD cameras now. I can't think of anyone who doesn't have an HDTV. Times are changing and those that don't keep up will fall behind. When everyone's piping YouTube into their living room to see cats jumping in boxes they're going to want it in HD.
No I bought the G1 only a few months ago because (even now) it's the only phone with a nice big keyboard with the keys in a standard layout. If I were to buy a phone today, I'd still buy the G1.
And unlike your iPod analogy (which lacks any cars), the G1 should be able to run the new versions. Third party OS's pretty much prove this.
Other then promoting newer phones I see no reason they can't release an update for the G1. I'm not going to buy a new phone with an inferior UI.
I agree, there are good software solutions for Android. I have a G1 which has no sensor but the widget lets me quickly cycle through three brightness levels so it's not a big deal. My RAZR was the V3i model (I don't think it was ever released in the states). The sensor worked pretty good and I believe it had a delay as you describe.
Perhaps Android phones with the sensor will see improvements in later updates.
Older P2P networks such as LimeWire allow you to find things that would otherwise not be seeded on BT. BT's fantastic for speed but unless you want something that the majority of others also want/have, your SOL.
I can't understand why cell phones don't have light sensors as a standard feature. My old RAZR had one so it would light the keys in the dark. But the main display's brightness should *optionally* be automatic.
On the main topic. There are lights on the market that slowly light up your room for people that have a unusual sleep schedules or sleep disorders. I have myself spent 4 years working graveyard shifts. These lights are typically very high wattage because it takes a lot of light to fool a sleeping person into thinking the sun has risen. I highly doubt the collection of LEDs in the average geek's bedroom has any significant effect.
This is great for mobile devices and laptops but I don't think I want my CPU and GPU combined in my gaming rig. I generally upgrade my video card twice as often as my CPU. If this becomes the norm then eventually I'll either get bottlenecked or have to waste money on something I don't really need. Being forced to buy two things when I only need one is not my idea of a good thing.
As long as it doesn't turn into another Bravo incident I have no problem with them nuking it.
It wouldn't take a large blast and no one has more experience with bombs then the US. The fallout would probably be less damaging then the oil has already done.
This is coming from someone living on the west coast of FL.
Yeah but eliminating clutches removes a common point of failure. So even if the performance benefits aren't that great it may increase the life of the car/machine.
"Other countries riot and go to the streets for less than what's been pulled on the Australian population in the past. Sure we'll be outraged for about 24 hours then back to business as usual."
So your saying Australians just roll over when they're bullied? Maybe if you guys got a little more outraged from time to time you'd have such freedoms as the ability to sell a video game.
You make a very good point. Who we are is partially (fully?) defined by how we act. So if someone acts a certain way for a period of time, it becomes part of them. But if they don't believe in what they are doing, or feel it is right, or they're doing it for alternative reasons, is it still them?
If a spy acts like someone he's not for a year before carrying out his mission. Does that persona become part of him, or is it just another character he's able to portray?
I'm not questioning your logic. I'm simply wondering the same thing now.

In most states, a non-functioning traffic light should be treated as a stop sign.
That's all well and good till you discover that the laws of physics do not yield to the laws of the land.
Building-7 wasn't hit by a plane.
They're not there to save lives. They're there to save money from lawsuits like this one.
What we need is a better legal system so stupid warning labels won't be necessary for either reason.

I think he's recently had his eyes opened about the empire and is still in shock.
He's also absolutely right. 99.9% of us are just pawns.
"innocent until proven guilty", is a sugar coated fairytale they tell people to make them think they're free.

Once again someone is comparing a codec to H264 using some small as hell resolution.
Welcome to 2010, if it's not encoded at 1080p nobody cares.

I'm still waiting for 2.0 for my G1. Why should I care about 2.2?
Yes I know I can root my phone and shoehorn a modded OS on there. I really don't want to hear about your 1337 hax. I want a supported update.

Be yourself, otherwise you'll come off as fake and no one will like you.
