Most businesses already pay for employee healthcare. If a state implemented universal healthcare, the total healthcare costs for businesses would likely decrease, not only due to lower overall healthcare costs, but because more of the healthcare costs would be paid by employees' income taxes.
I always heard T-Mobile has the worst coverage though. I was considering getting one of their prepaid phones, since it works out to something like $6/month if you buy the card that lasts 365 days. It sounds like a good deal as I don't make many calls.
Device and application incompatibilities never stopped anyone from upgrading. With Vista, it's not so much that there's a reason to not upgrade, as there isn't a reason TO upgrade.
Well, I got into FreeBSD a while ago, when I was setting up my server. I guess the problem with FreeBSD is that it worked too well, and now I don't remember how to maintain it. Something about "make world", but I have to update the ports tree, and there's something about rebuilding the kernel, and it's a headless server, and I remember the last time I tried to do that, some configuration file got messed up and I had to find a monitor and a keyboard.
Hopefully my IP address isn't publically available, because I'm sure my server is full of security holes, since I haven't updated anything in years.
Are there actually any nerds on slashdot anymore? I was surprised by the PS2, because the first thing I did after inheriting a PS2 was install a DMS3 modchip, in the process learning how to solder leads 0.5mm apart on legs of a chip. After installing the mod and pirating games, I realized I had more fun installing the modchip than playing any of the games. Similarly, I've had more fun messing around with the Cell in PS3 Linux than I have playing the games. (Although, getting the Cell SDK installed was more frustration than fun)
That said, the PS3 is more fun than the 360... at least for me...
Even if they only have 4% of the market, 100% of the machines aren't already compromised. Back when I started using Linux on the internet, I had a couple break-ins. This, of course, was my fault, since I was new to it, and misconfigured some services. However, someone took the time to compromise my system, not even 4%, but ONE machine. Thus, even at 4% of the market, you can't tell me that not ONE person has ever even tried to break it...
well, gpm supported text-mode cut and paste. And, you're just talking about *mouse* cut and paste. just regular keyboard cut/paste was supported in vi.
Of course he meant rich, since it was a comparison between the mac and windows.
I'm surprised they didn't try old versions of Word, or DOS.
Yeah, it's sort of unfortunate that he voted for it, but he made a statement to the effect that he didn't agree with the constitutionality of the bill but voted for it to provide "balance" against roe v. wade. Not that I agree, but i'm more satisfied by that explanation.
Also, if you use a Soxhlet to make coffee, you need to run the extraction under slightly reduced pressure, so you aren't overheating the pot. However, if you just want the caffeine, this is definitely the best way to make coffee. Steam distillation tastes better.
You know, you've made about 1000 comments in 360/PS3 related articles, why don't you just get an account?
The only specific PS3 failure I've read about is where some guy put tape over the vent holes to "keep dust out."
Not that they don't happen, the widely quoted figures I've seen, Wii and PS3 failure rate was about 1%, compared to 30% for the 360.

Hopefully, he'd notice that every post he makes gets modded as flamebait, and take a different tack.

I wouldn't do it with a brand new $600 piece of hardware.

Yeah, which is why you should get a 360 - Microsoft would NEVER use a proprietary format!

Phone booths, restrooms, offices, and restaurants are private property.
And, you probably can tape with notification. Ever seen that round thing in an ATM? It's a camera.
Well, to be fair, the people you should be complaining to about RSX access are Nvidia, not Sony.

Did they start hiding the bleach behind the counter with the Sudafed?
The last time I used it, even dasher was faster than voice recognition.

Well, this is the first port of the kernel to the indycar platform, there are bound to be bugs to work out.
I believe the winner drinks milk.

On the other hand, every APL programmer will buy one of these.
If $600 is too much for a game console, $1500 is too much for a game controller.
Does the .ms registrar allow obscenity in domain names?
I think that this is more what a chemist would first think of as the most "effective" coffeemaker.
I have made coffee with a Soxhlet, with buchner funnels, gravity filters, but my favorite is . It has a few advantages, namely that you're capturing all of the volatile oils, not carrying over the more bitter substances, and you're using freshly distilled water.
