Well, I live in Sweden and we have more or less no sun during the winter but you don't hear me complaining about it do you?;) If you really want this giant mirror you should spend austrian money, not polish, not brittish, not swedish.
When you say that real-time software is a dying art you are totally wrong. The move is from specialized hardware and/or mechanics to software-based solutions where the time-to-market for adding a new feature is smaller than for specialized hardware. If real-time software was a dying thing why does a modern car contain so many micro-processors running real-time software?
"RT applications are said to be so because of the requirement for them to react in *real time* even though that is not the actual case. It just needs to seem that they do."
I though the traditional definition of a real-time was a system that had temporal requirements as well as functional requirements. That is, it should perform the operation as specified and at the right time.
Also, real-time system does not need to be small. There are real-time systems that run Pentium processors with several GHz, it's all about the temporal requirements!
What is anarchism if not the removal of the state as the monopoly-holder of power from a geographically defined area? I do however understand your point and if you define the "anarchism" as something other than the definition I just made you might be correct.
And the usage of wikipedia, it was a source I had handy that, unlike yours, actually worked. take care:)
I must congratulate you on managing, in just three sentences none the less, to go from critizing the shuttle program to making an uninformed stab at the current administration. This is slashdot-poetry at it's best. It is because of insights as yours that I still visit this website.
The same was said about the germans, the japanease, the koreans an many more.
I speak as a human being, that was born free, when I say that ALL people seek the same liberties as us. To say that some people do not want these liberties in my view is somewhat rasist.
But I find it encouraging that you at least have sensible position on this issue, that I cannot say about other people that I have debated this with.
Our liberty more and more depend of the liberty of others and as long there is despotism and repression none of us can really be free.
Of course we should deal with him and dispose him and his supporters. There is no reason to choose between these two responses.
This is why the reformation of the middle east is so important. This is why the success of the democratic state of Iraq is so important. This is why we need to be firm against countries like Syria, Iran and Saudiarabia.
Yes, lets invite mr bin laden to the table. That is the way to solve it.
I am proud of your prime minister and the way he as reacted to this barbaric act. If you would like to live in a country without a spine I welcome you to my country. Spines are optional here.
Why don't you blame the IRA bombings on the brittish government when you blame them for this bombing. Since both (according to your logic) is a consequence of an unjust occupation.
It is particularly barbaric that this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa, and the long term problems of climate change and the environment. Just as it is reasonably clear that this is a terrorist attack, or a series of terrorist attacks, it is also reasonably clear that it is designed and aimed to coincide with the opening of the G8. There will be time to talk later about this.
It is important however that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world. Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilised nations throughout the world.

Of course one should whine. This is tax payers money taken by force from the rightfull owners, it should be spent wisely.

Ah, quoting from Atlas Shrugged. You my dear sir will be added to my friends-list. :)
That is the most accurate description of the European Union from an american that I have seen, great stuff :D
That is so lame.
How is this interesting? This is a flame bait if I ever seen one.
Since anarcho-capitalism is related to libertarianism.
Well...
If I had made the same joke about Bush it would have been moderated +3 funny.
Yeah, like all those that voted for Kerry. ;)

My regards, from a crazy old european liberal(*)

Yes, it would have been far better for a coalition of the willing to remove Saddam in 1991 than waiting twelve years to do it.
Maybe because they ffered everything they could to Arafat and all they got was suicide bombers. Maybe that is why they elected Sharon, just maybe.
Yes, blame the rape victim for the rape. She was begging for it!
Yes, blame the jews. That will do it.

From Tony Blair's statement :
