A 200$ palm pilot and a 20$ keyboard for it would be more computer than most people need. It stopped being about need somewhere between the XT and the 286.
Seriously. Re-release it as a kit for kids to learn computers on. I remember getting a 'computer kit' from Radio shack as a kid that was basically a bunch of resistors and transistors and wires. (the 150 in 1 from here - http://musepat.club.fr/sfair.htm ) An Apple II would be a nice modern equivalent....
What? You think that the government of China doesn't have the resources or smarts to do this research and development themselves? Come on, shutting down research because the Chinese government might use it badly is very, very silly.
Your last vestige of the right bear arms was taken away, and in short order you see your other rights sliding slowly away. And there's no correlation.... Slashdot really needs to implement smilies, 'cause I really need to use:rollseyes: right now.
Nope, I like my dictionaries to have the word 'fuck' in them, my phone books to list escort agencies, and my search engines to not set moral standards.
I'm aware that this is only on the paid-for part of the business. I still don't like it. If it's legal, they should allow it. It calls into question whether they're putting their morality into the rest of their business.
People seem to be missing something here; The Web of Trust. It's nice to have the central server for low security things like signing of unimportant messages etc., but for real secure messaging, it's best to physically meet and exchange public keys on paper. That's the only time that I will sign someone's public key on my computer. Otherwise, I don't trust it 100%.
That's why PGP/GPG both have levels of trust built in. 100% trust is for one's that you have absolutely verified, scaling down to casual checking to verify a signature on an email on a public list.
It's really sad when I as a Canadian can buy a gun that Americans can't. My "Law Enforcement Only" Bushmaster is a fun toy, but not exactly a practical gun for a criminal. It's not easy to hide, and doesn't have the sphincter tightening sound that racking a pump shotgun does. Much better as a defesive weapon...

Hot damn pal. That was well put. Mind if I repost it with attribution?
The real reason that Apple released Safari for Windows isn't to compete with IE. It's to compete with Windows Mobile.
[em] We'd have Cheney as president. [/em]
Nothing is stopping Congress from impeaching both of them....
Wasn't too long ago that scientific consensus was that the world was flat....
There is credible evidence that global warming is caused more by solar activity and cow farts than the exhaust of my SUV.
Global warming is fact, nobody I know is arguing that. It's cause is up for debate....
As always, I'm happier when the Chinese are blocking things than when the companies self censor....

Neither do the ACLU and the World Wildlife Fund. Doesn't mean they're at odds, just that they're working on different things.
Really? You want to back up the assertion that the NRA are at odds with civil liberty groups like the ACLU?
We in England have never had the right to bear arms, nor the right to arm bears.
 right now.
No more than you have the right to free speech, etc. etc.

Don't forget that the basement will need a pool with sharks. With freaking laser beams on their heads...
Oh, sorry. You're pimpng your house, not building an evil lair. Never mind. Big hat with a feather should do.
How much do you want to bet that the right to bear arms isn't mentioned in the film?
Not even cell phones. Standard portable land line phones.
That story was posted after this one. I'm not quite nerdy enough to have invented a time machine to read slashdot stories... :P
Been a while since I've seen one of these.
And if you don't have anything to hide, why object to us installing a camera in your home....
This ain't just a slippery slope. It's a fucking teflon ski hill.
And that is something I'd 100% support, because it's not making a moral choice, it's improving their product...
What Jurisdiction?
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View, CA 94043
That'd be their corporate HQ. Next question?

No, but the method of discovering the facts gets wonky when established facts are ignored when you go forward...
Nice to see that the introduction of street corner cameras is being matched by our ability to watch them.

Ditto that. A few B27 targets on your back door, from an accurate gun will loosen some sphincters. :)
A google image search if you don't know what a B-27 is.
