Read the major blocks of the application in what ever editor makes you happy, with a text editor next to it ( preferably one that does arbitrary text folding ) and just psuedo code the hell out of it. The more of this you do, the more you'll be able to look back at your own pseudocode for a definition of some obscure thing, and the more a pattern will appear as you notice yourself typing the same things over and over again.
Also works as sl/hack documentation when you're done.
Dialpad.com ( which is now a yahoo company ) was registered on Tue, Feb 16, 1999 -- and i'm pretty sure I remember using it back then for well, pretty much everything that's described in the patent. I'm also fairly certain that the tech wasn't particularly new.
Hardly an accurate assessment, which is also part of the point of the good journalist. It's that very assessment itself that lead to research that was perfectly valid being used for a purpose it was totally unsuibtable for ( ie. challenging the credibility/effectiveness of the ESRB ratings board/system before congress ).
You couldn't put a man in the _same_ clothes, but you could create an image with the same impact, in the same pun. The catch 22 to "sexist" ( which usually just means mysogynist ) is that men are constatly objectified, which is A-OK, apparently.
Netbeans Matisse project is pretty much exactly what you're talking about -- it's all like "ooh ooh, i want to be interface builder!!!"
You're right though, about the tookits. The reason why no one likes java gui development is because all of the libraries are pretty bad. AWT is way to light, Swing is not well- anything ( engineered or otherwise ), and SWT, while sort of interesting, is basically a hack to build eclipse.
There are a lot of well engineered tookits out there, with sensical API's. SUN should take some time and study both QT and SWF(.net gui api ) and do it right, rather then continuing to try to "fix" swing.
It's sad. Very sad. But if your tied to windows, then Visual Basic is the way to go. If you've got access to vs.net, c#'s gui builder is also pretty slick and the language is far less braindead to use.
The operate at the speed of the slowest connected device.
So, let's say ( for some bizzare reason ) you have a 10/100/1000 multi-speed hub.
If you plug a 10mb device in, all ports run at 10mb.
Since it's rebroadcast across all channels, there is no way to do "buffering" of a 10mb port usually.... which is what a multi-speed switch will "usually" do.
buffer, or slow connections across any set of ports talking slower.
Pseudo code it.

Win. Total Win.
The first question, was the best question, and the rest is pretty fluffy.
"Free for up to three users" means "useless for all intents and purposes, unless you pay up."
It's a neat space, and it's neat to see people interested in it, and i'm sure someone will learn some valuable lessons from jazz.
It'll probably only get used exclusively by IBM though.
This is probably the best recommendation anyone could give -- particularly for the age range of students that you have described.
I can't second it enough!
Let's get dangerous!

Yes.
But _you_ are trolling.

Well, it was the first complete proof, but in the title, it's the first complete proof of the "Hamilton-Perelman theory of the Ricci Flow."
I really don't think that that is too confusing.

Seen ambercrombie add lately?

That's cute.
Now start inserting and updating.

yeah -- sql is stupid, sure. But you're proposal here really isn't any brighter.
I would like to note that the republican party did not start until well into the 19th century....

Assuming one of your six layers of abstractions doesn't smash itself into oblivion.
Synaptic and apt is _not_ comparible to app bundles, be they NeXT bundles, osx, etc. etc. etc.
and then -- ask a user to set it up!?

Nice.
Dual speed hubs are sort of a lie.

Being a dick, and being a vertebrate, are not equitable.
It's a shame more people don't realize that.
It's a shame that people who don't realize that try to advise others to be a dick in the and call it "having backbone".
It is mildly amusing though.
With Terminal Services, each user who logs in gets a new and seperate session.
With VNC, you only get 1 per launched server.
So you'd need to do something that would grab the connection start a new VNC server and hand the display to that client.
It's called a control key. It ain't that difficult. As a matter of fact, you get used to it real quick.
ctrl-click.
No, all that's needed is for you, the decision maker, to be unaware of the outcome of your decision before it's made.
Gnumeric is about as close as you're going to get.
It's really quite nice...
I'm not sure if it still has any gnome dependencies or not.
But really

course the syllable count assumes you're not a spoutin of words like nu-cu-lar, besides dubya-dubya-2 is just more fun >-p
