im assuming you didnt read the article, or even posts above you. the software was provided by banks, and adobe volunteered to use it.
"The inner workings of the counterfeit deterrence system are so secret that not even Adobe is privy to them. The Central Bank Counterfeit Deterrence Group provides the software as a black box without revealing its precise inner workings, Connor said."
i might be wrong, but cant you do the same with wma files, when you rip them aernt they non drm by default? or is that put in there automatically. i dont really know since i have never ripped to wma format.
thanks for any updates.
really? almost everyone i know who has copied games recently has done it from friends. why? because the warez versions are hard to find one, and they are of lower quality. secondly since they rely on cracks, they are harder to update, whereas if you can get a working iso of the disk then you can load it with a virtual drive, which is as good as having the original. the other big means of piracy is installing from a friends cd and using a no cd crack, but this often does not allow for updates so it is not the prefered choice. but really, as much as some of my friends pirate they still buy many more games than most people i know do. also i do not think this software is going to be used for the advertised purpose. mostly because clone cd had a similar idea in mind when it was working on its software, and almost everyone i know who downloaded it used it solely as a means to beat copy protection and then as a virtual drive to be able to play. the only form of copy protection ive seen that is not a hassle to legit players and is still effective is a cd key to play online. these are hard if not impossible to fake, and if you want to play online you basically need a legit key.
actually it only has 500,000 songs whereas napster 2 has over 700,000. and if you look at the other ones the each have well over 300,000. so itunes may have more songs than some, but it certainly does not have the most.
its really more like comparing a bmw to a porsche, than a ford to a bmw. they are both higher end systems, and cost a lot, but the porsche (apple) doesnt really give much performance boost for the extra money.
well if it ever happened it would be similar to online pc gaming now, you can have different computers with dif oses playing together. and if it grew wildly popular it might start seriously detracting from pc games.
i just check cds out of the library. if you have a library system that allows libraries to share resources you can find almost anything you want, and its free. from there you can rip anything you want.
ill have to try it out. now what they need it to get software that allows cross-platform playing. people with x-boxes could play people with gamecubes who could play people with ps2s. cheaper form of online pc play today.
Remember: The old adage "fight fire with fire" does not apply to non-metaphorical fires.
dont firefighters do controlled burning to stop uncontrollable forest fires?
i agree i learned about computers by messing them up, when i got my first computer i dled tons of crap lots of it was spyware and quite annoying, plus i couldnt get rid of it. that was a fe years ago, now ive learned my lesson, ive had 2 more computers, and i no longer get spyware, and i even moved from windows to using linux as often as possible.
so build them a second computer or just allow them to mess it up, and back your important files up a lot. this way if anything get screwed up, you can blame your kids, and if they loose anything, they will learn to back up stuff. probably all they would lose are some saved games.

for some reason in the past two weeks, i have seen a lot more random nasty ac postings. i was just wondering if anyone noticed the same thing, and if/. was thinking of doing anything about it.
maybe this will give some purpose to tablet pcs. sounds pretty sweet, but it was already/.ed so i couldnt read it. kinda dissapointing. either that or the link was bad.
"The Itunes business model will never be mainstream. When TV was invented, pay TV was not the mainstream and while cable did make money, most people had reguar TV."
didnt you contradict yourself? most people have some sort of pay tv now.

from what ive read the subscription services are the only ones who make money. and in the cases of the new napster among other they use this to subsidize straight out selling.

maybe, but most the people i know had bought preinstalled win 98 or me because 2000 was considered an office os, kinda like nt 4. xp i think is seen as more of a consumer os.
mod mike hawk up. you make a good point, and i havent bought a game since 1997. most of the posts complaining about anti-piracy measures do so because it bothers the writer to have to crack it. also most anti piracy measures block against soft-piracy. win xp has activation to stop one person from sharing the copy with their friends which happened with win 98 and most of the office versions. their goal was never to stop all piracy of win xp because that would be a futile attempt.

hopefully this clears things up
the article mentions that the solar panels recharge batteries which then recharge your pda/cell phone/whatever. in fact:
"Intelligent battery-pack software, however, will identify and charge only those items that need it, according to Peress."
but then again you read the article right?

the default for iTunes is AAC riping. so you could make the same point.

actually probably not even then, because they are pushing aac really hard. they only support mp3 because they have to.

ogg vorbis is a type of music compression similar to mp3 but open source. just google it to find out more.
As we all know, just because everyone knows your wrong, doesn't mean the court will agree with you.
yeah look at OJ.

mod parent up. if you dont think so, i urge you to watch it, but it was not made in 2003. so it doesnt apply exactly, but it is absolutely horrible.

they dont actually make them, they have others make them and put their name on it. but i agree their hardware aint too shabby.
