Anyone know if Adobe participate in a code sharing program with some of it's major customers or some of the Plug-in omakers?
Wonder if the code to this is included or if some pointers to it can be gleamed?
Now why would this be interesing? Think Windows non-compilable code sharing with China and India etc. Small wonder those countries wants their own distribution of Linux.
I was trying to be funny not prescient yesterday when I made a reference to Chamberlain waving one single piece of paper.
It turns out that SCO have indeeed complied with discovery and turned over 60 pages. So much for the million lines of code.

so it starts January 13th? otherwise you have to buy an 'upgrade package'?
Or maybe the fact that Novell does not acquire SuSe before 13'th Might have something to do with it. DUH!
The indemnification program will go into effect on Tuesday, the same day that Novell is expected to complete its $210 million acquisition of the German software company
You are making a very good point, and a point that is often used in patent cases.
I doubt the money will be needed as SCO can't possible afford to open another front at this point.
I hope there is some provisions that the money will be kept in trust and used as a deterent for any company that feel inclined to go after Linux/ FOOS on patent claims.
at least one machine lying around with OpenOffice.org on it.
If you had to pay for it, yes that would probably be the mode of operandi, however since it is free it will reside on all machines. Why would you go to another machine, if you could just use your own.
Israel govt's purchases account for 3-4% of MS Israel's annual revenue.
There is something wrong with this number. In any western world government expenditure is between 20%-30% of GDP and MS sales as a percent would mirror that. Israel is no exception, probably on the high side because of their elevated security expenses.
If the number is correct it must exclude the Military and the health sector. What are thhos sectors using? This is a smoke screen of sorts somthing else is going on behind the scene.
NDA put a burden of some kind on yourselves, so you will only sign one if it is in your own self interest. To "avoid a lawsuit" is not a good argument as it opnes you to one or at least adds risk to your side of the equation.
You are quite right and even better the NASA folks are keenly aware of this. I saw an interview with one of the JPL directors on Nasa TV and he said they had gotten more than 2 billion hits to the NASA web site since the landing. In perspective this is more than they got during all of 2003.
Second I think it is real cool that some of the key people in the project / science team at NASA are women. Maybe this will help in that department as well, we sure need their brain power in the tech sector.
It's this simple: over the long term, the cost of an item will be pushed down to the marginal cost to produce exactly one of those items.
I am afraid you flunked Econ 101.
The price will settle where the marginal cost of producing an additional unit meets the Marginal Profit of that unit.
If you have a fixed production cost, then the price will settle where the marginal price is equial to that. Notice the word Marginal for selling price. It is the price of the last unit minus the price reduction times all the units before it.

Get in the habit. A simple "Here's your document is OpenOffice format" goes a lot farther than "Here's your document."
I always thought that the name OpenOffice was a bit too generic, but now when I saw your comment above, it actually adds some Authority to the application.
Someone who does not know what it is, will not just dismiss it as it sounds like "Hej this is legitimate and I better find out what it is so as not to look stupid" kind of thing.
Second. Once the penetration of OOo is above 10%-15% it will change the dynamics of document interchange. It's like when people argues that Mozilla or alternative browsers only need 15%+- share to prevent wes sites being designed for IE only.
I for one think donating to a church so they can build another wing to the church is a complete waste of money. Makes the Mozilla => Amiga look like an inspired deal in comparison, but you do not find me bringing that up.;-)

So what is this? A random post that happened to hit a SCO story?

GPL is a strong license which has never been defeated court.
if asked.
SCO has killed it's business by doing what they are doing, but the are banking on the lawsuit or Pump and Dump stock scheme.
Kiss do not have that option, They can Company Name their behind goodbye, that's all.
Look how Darl has aged, this has clearly taken its toll.

Yes, I am sure most of IBM's bookkeeping stuff is done on Quicken. They are probably thinking about upgrading to Quickbook if their growth continues.
Somehow I do not feel your pain.

Something other than sporadic anecdotal evidence. It is quite interesting and might be of interest to the people over at Groklaw.
The whole point of Wikipedia is for people to use it, so any linking is just fine.
