In back to the future the delorean was powered by Mr Fusion which was able to use any element or compound just about for fusion basically turning matter into energy.
If the release is anything like what happened after Windows 98 was out then RAM will go up in price. The market is a completely different place now though and possibly manufacturers have increased their output so its hard to say. I'm going to stock up soon none-the-less.
I was very interested in this idea for a a long time. Particuarly the idea of having an open source franchise. It is very expensive to setup a franchise though as the government and perhaps even a few lawyers want their bit. I think if you can get around that it could work initially with a very simple business like an open source chain of sandwich shops.
Unfortuntaltey I've been spending all my time running a not-so-open business as a self-employed call-out PC tech. Since then i've become interested more in radical life extension and extending my youth span. I may come back to open source business at some point though.
Brazil has cheap labor and the production is subsidized by their government. You don't really want to run a car on ethanol because your service costs will go up and you'll soon stuff the engine.
I just bought a new Durabook 14k myself. The Turion MT-32 inside worries me.
It starts about 51-55 degrees on light load with a voltage of 0.900 Under heavy load, like encoding a dvd, the CPU voltage reaches 1.200 (or maxed out at 1.300 according to AMD dashboard) and the temperate starts climbing reaching as high as 74 degrees. After stopping the CPU intensive process the temp drops to about 64 degrees and then moves down to around 56-59 degrees at a slower pace.
If I run Prime95 then the temp maxes out a 80 degrees! I'm still waiting to hear back from Twinhead about this. I'm seriously considering unclocking / undervolting this laptop.
I don't think it will always be like this though. Human technology has come so far in the last 100 years. Another hundred and we may well be using solar sails to travel at near the speed of light. A bright Aspie might come along and work out we can exceed it.
Possibly 10% of the stars in the galaxy are in the "habitable zone" and there's more stars in the galaxy than there are grains on sand on this planet.

That was supposed to be a joke...
So when can we expect a direct interface in slashdot for MS word users?

Waiting 30mins to speak to an overpaid local that gets drunks everyweek is a terrible experience.

By allowing more people to move away from Windows and to Linux.
Funny and insightful both at the same time. :)
I could see it now.
