  1. Re:Downgrades? on PC Makers Offering a Bridge Back To XP · · Score: 0, Offtopic

When I bicycle down a grade, I go faster than if I go up the grade. downgrade = moving faster.

  2. Re:What's the benefit? on MS Offers Vista Upgrade Pricing To All · · Score: 1

Microsoft don't just do what the hell they feel like, they do talk to businesses and gauge what they want. Like the RIAA, MPAA, BSA and NSA? I think the parent post spelled "gouge" incorrectly.
  3. Re:Pamela Jones, a.k.a. PJ, exists. on SCO Vs. Groklaw · · Score: 1

Have not been seeing your postings on groklaw these days. Have you changed your handle or something?

  4. Stolen Laptop Alarms on Stolen Laptop Alarms · · Score: 5, Funny

Is this where I can look at stolen laptop alarms? Mine was stolen last week on the subway...

  5. Why do I need another media player? on Real Launches New Player, Music Store · · Score: 1

I play all my media files with Media Player Classic and BS Player . I also use Real Alternate and Quicktime Alternate. I just dont see the reason why I would want to install another media player (unless I really wanted bloatware/spyware).

  6. Shutdown? on Tanker Truck Shut Down Via Satellite · · Score: 1

I just hope the software is not made by microsoft. Or the shutdown will easily become " the first case of a truck being crashed by satellite"

  7. Click through is fine by me on U.S. Supreme Court To Rule On Online Porn Law · · Score: 0, Troll

I personally like the sites that require you to click and confirm that you are of right age. That would be better than having libraries or any other place censor your ability to view web sites.

  8. Re:Tracking on Is That Cell Phone Tower Watching Me? · · Score: 1

Dorothy, Dorothy, where is the yellow brick road?

I don't think I am in Kansas any more. My GPS is way off...

  9. Magic SysRq on What's A 'Scroll Lock' And Why Is It On My Keyboard? · · Score: 2, Informative

I didn't see anyone comment on this, but the SysRq hooks to the Linux kernel. It allows the user to send commands to the kernel like sync, reboot, etc.

  10. Sitefinder sidewinder on McLaughlin Defends Site Finder As 'Innovation' · · Score: 1

This is probably not of much use now...

    127.0.0.1 sitefinder.verisign.com

in your hosts file should handle this neatly. It won't give you a DNS resolution error, but atleast it will stop going to sitefinder.

For those running a webserver on the same machine, I would suggest using some other non-existent IP address ;-)
