How does FOG compare to CloneZilla? I know that resizing partitions is still a bit awkward in CloneZilla, and this was one of the things that I liked to do a lot of with Norton Ghost once upon a time.
Since it's all text, I'm surprised that 40GB only compressed down to 15GB. I wonder how small it would be if he used lrzip with max settings instead... I didn't see mention of which type of compression was used in the short article.
The gov't has stated that you can have your iPad held pending review by the Ministry of Communications for 50 NIS per day (roughly around $12-13). Otherwise, I think you'll lose custody and ownership of the iPad. I imagine you'll likely get fined if you try to go through the green line instead of the red line and get caught, on top of the prior two choices.
But... apparently this is newsworthy here because it's about Apple. What do I care even? I have no intention of jumping on the bandwagon. Sounds like a bunch of waaaambulances being dispatched to me...
Telemarketers will call from another state and use a PSTN gateway in yet another state/country. All this does is move telemarketing jobs out of a state that badly needs any jobs it can get.
Funny, I could understand the Bangalore tech support staff better than I could the Mississippi telemarketing staff. *grin*
"Most people's cell phones don't actually do caller-id. They merely cross-reference the number from your contacts list."
Hate to be pedantic here, but I do work in telecommunications. Pretty much every cellphone on the US market supports Caller ID Number, but not the Caller ID Name. If they didn't support Caller ID Number, then there would be no way to cross-reference the number to a name in your contact list.
Another side note is that Caller ID Name is not something supported in all locations or all countries - even other industrialized nations.
Fine if all you want to do is eat the traditional french bread that you speak of. I personally like greater variety in bread. Most breads that I make do require sugar, but not a large quantity. Even a Hallah doesn't take a large quantity of sugar. In fact, if I use honey instead of sugar in my Hallah, it's moister when eaten (and is certainly moister than a simple bread not including any sugars beyond the starches in the flour already).
Not necessarily true. Even though pirates themselves do not directly generate money for the publisher, in the case of games with online multiplayer modes benefit greatly just by having more people to play with. The more people who play an online mp game, the more likely I am to buy it.
This is another case that shows that reality of the bureaucracy inverts the stated ideals: these judgements within the USPTO are completely subjective, based on lack of effort toward finding prior art, and most often completely wrong in favor of validating patents for old and obvious "ideas." They are far more interested in handing out synthetic monopolies than protecting the public [domain] interest.
Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.
Hell it even happened to me, after I disembarked from an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Newark and then had to switch planes to American Airlines. I got selected for the super duper secondary screening, which was only effective at removing the two bottles of water that I have brought with me and getting some snippy attitude from the TSA door greeter.
That reminds me of a joke my great aunt used to tell me when I was a little child... It was about how to frighten elephants away. All you had to do was snap your fingers. So my response was "of course there's no elephants here, we're in North America", to which she would reply "See? It's working isn't it???"
The problem with your from-a-complete-stop example of the parking brake in action is that you still have to overcome static friction even before the car moves. In the case where you are already doing 30 mph and the car starts to accelerate, you've long overcome the static friction holding the car in place, and all that is left to work on the call is dynamic friction. Whether or not the main breaks or the parking brake are able to overcome a still-accelerating vehicle's engine is a different issue. This is one reason I really prefer stick versus automatic - if this were to happen to me, I'd hit the clutch, throw it in neutral and then be able to stop the car, and turn it off once I stop. Sure it might cause some damage to the engine from revving so high, but better that than me & other people dead...
What is the difference between this and the S.K. gov't simply deeming that any money earned on the sale of "virtual currency" would be subject to income tax? That is, assuming they have an income tax there, which I do not know myself. I suspect that the US IRS and respective state gov'ts would take this opinion...
...until some terrorist manages to get his underwear bomb past the millimeter wave. After that, will we all be required to fly in the nude? (If so, I refuse to fly unless I'm flying in a plane full of nothing but attractive young female swimsuit models)
You know, in a lot of cultures in the world, people make music for reasons other than personal financial gain. Perhaps these people who are hovering around the poverty line because they want to be big musicians have made a choice, and have to realize the consequences. What you deem as "morally right" is highly subjective. I suppose I'd be a lot more supportive if the whole concept of copyright was reigned in fiercely like it should. Nobody has a moral right to continue to be paid for something they did 80 years ago...
Then I guess those other countries better get their popcorn out for the encore presentation of Security Theatre:-) I feel sorry for the people made to sit like children in detention... I wonder how long until "Arbecht Macht Frei" will appear on jetways at the airports. Not being allowed to relieve oneself certainly reminds me of stories I've read about the forced-labor concentration camps run by the Nazis in WWII...
More important is the fact that you can actually be charged with a DUI in Texas even if your blood alcohol content is below the legal limit. I remember reading a case about a year ago about a woman who had not a single drink get charged for DUI. I wish I remembered where I read about that, as I'm curious to know what happened to the woman and her case.
And how do you know that Google will keep your information a lot longer than Microsoft will? I've heard nothing to the contrary yet, and I'd assume that anything held in either engine can theoretically be held "forever".
Why ext2? How about UDF? I know it was originally intended for optical media, but it works quite well for non-optical media. I use it on a number of flash drives that I have that I want to use between Windows and Linux systems...
I don't know, I have an expectation of no "minority report" photographing of my face just to stop by the local mall. I also do not understand how this is meant to make the mall any safer really for the same reason that I don't consider most red-light cameras to be doing a damn thing for safety either.
If only somebody could put a fork in them... I think they (SCO) are done. we don't want them to get burnt now...

They actually interview every single passenger though. That's the difference.

Hey, it's not like we're talking about Chuck Norris or Charles Nelson Reilly here...

So all the theatre works until it doesn't...
