I actually worked on a project where I had to use dreamweaver cs3. I found it acceptable as a IDE. I was part of a time already using it. I wouldn't buy it, but provided for free I would have no problem using it.
This is the setup I used for a long time. I now use Photoshop, TextMate and Firebug.
The change was moving from a linux desktop to a macbook pro and my work giving me photoshop (they had the license already). Personally, I'd be fine with giving up photoshop, but I am addicted to textmate.
I had a similar problem. I was having trouble sleeping. I was also (go figure) feeling lethargic throughout the day. On top of this I was getting headaches. So I went to visit a now former doctor of mine. I explain my symptoms and asks me about stress ect. He tells me that sometimes if your sleep cycle is broken you can have trouble getting back into it and says he will provide me a prescription of medicine to help.
I'm thinking it is sleeping pills. I've needed them in the past with previous bouts of insomnia (I had a bout that lasted almost a week once about 7 years ago). So I get it filled, go home and take it. For the next 48 hours I'm basically fucked out of my mind. This is when I bother to do some research and actually find he treated me with anti-depressants. I took the pill once. It knocked me out, then I was essentially full on drunk for about 48 hours. I hardly remember the time, my co-workers tell me I stumbled in and slept at my desk for about 4 hours, mumbled about how I didn't feel well and drove home. I really don't remember.
On top of all this I read that the medicine I had been prescribed is not one you can simply stop taking, but must be weened off of. So had I continued to take it, I would of been in some deep shit after my 2 week supply ran out.
I called my doctor, called him a fucking idiot, and went and bought myself some over the counter sleep aids. A few nights later I was feeling much better. Never saw him again.
The last company I worked for switched it's insurance plan 2 times. I worked there for 3 years. My current company has switched 3 times. I worked there (and continue to) for 5 years.
What if you placed a probe directly in the path of the asteroid, then unfurled a few hundred km long spring. Then the asteroid would compress the spring as it began to impact the probe. One the spring was fully compacted it would redirect the energy into the probe providing a free speed boost.
For me every time I've put in my two weeks I've been told not to bother showing back up.
I guess I had some angry bosses. What really ticks me off is that I recently discovered that my state has a law that says basically if you fire someone after they put in their two weeks you have to pay them for two weeks. So basically I got ripped off.
Not nearly as bad, but I worked tech support for a internet company. There were rumors of layoffs and I wanted to get an apartment with my girlfriend and move out of my parents house.
So I went to my boss and asked him how true the rumors were. I told him that I planned to sign a lease that friday and didn't want to get stuck without a job. He told me that my job was secure and in no way at risk. He then also told me not to forget our team meeting that next monday.
So I go sign the lease and head to the team meeting that monday morning. They laid us all off and told us we had to sign non-compete and confidentiality agreements to get our last check. I put my fist though the wall next to the guys head and walked out.
Yea, I can tell you when my appendix ruptured I was glad I didn't have any health insurance. I mean I did have 25 thousand in the bank, so why not use it.
This was the hardest part to overcome in our truecrypt implementation. I ended up writing a database application that stored the truecrypt recover iso's along with the password associated with the iso.
If someone forgets their password of the headers get corrupted, we can just burn off the iso, pop it in and use the password.
Of course now you have to secure that database. Which is another task entirely.
We use truecrypt for full drive encryption. So far we have encrypted well over 100 notebooks without issue. The full drive encryption has very little overhead and besides a password at start up most users don't even notice.
I really like the new touchpad on the new macbooks. I would like to replace my macbook. I do not need a macbook pro, and I really don't need a 17 inch macbook pro.
I need a macbook, not a 2800.00 macbook pro.
So it's not just $50. For most people it is buying a larger more expensive laptop.
Truecrypt is awesome for this. Full disk encryption plus a hidden encrypted partition.
You put in one password you get a dummy install you use to trick them. Just a bare bones windows xp with some files on it. You put in the second password and you get your real OS with all your important data.
I love the imac, I went the macbook pro route because I wanted portability. However my wife already has a huge 24 inch dell monitor. She wants to go mac, but doesn't need the extra cost of a notebook. A mac mini would be perfect for her. Of course with the mini's current stats it is a huge price gouge even by mac standards.
I agree. I wonder if he would give the same advice to windows users.
"Please do not install any windows update unless you know exactly what it does!"
What is more complicated. Using the GUI to add a new user, or using the adduser command?
Hell the useradd command is still really freaking easy.

Just get me release quality AD support via 2003 server and we will call it even.
I spit on my finger and rub the ball. That fixes it.
Don't forget Stargate Atlantis. That had a great ending imho.

Hmmm cost of a new roof on my house (under 10k) cost to build my house new on todays market over 160k). Which one is my best bet?
Roof prices could be cheaper if I head to home depot and pick up a truck load of 'undocumented workers'.

I had a boss ask me once if I could wait a week to get paid. I told her that was fine if she could wait a week to get any work out of me.
She paid me :-)

We wrote our own tool for storing passwords and the recovery isos. Our users are not administrators so they can't change the passwords on their own.
It made it all very easy to deal with.

I must be lame, all of my servers are named
LocOSDesc
So SBUBTPRINT
or DTDEBWWW
If there is more then one, we tack on a number.
We are really uncreative, but we know where all our shit is and what it does.
Oh it breaks mine.

IPv6 is a myth, a lie. It's like when you used to believe in the Sasquatch or the easter bunny.
Let the dream die.
All I need now is google underwear that twitters for me with real time gps tracking so I know where I've been.

I would mod you funny if I could.
