I once worked for a small ISP that was bought by a big ISP. The big ISP layed us all off only to bring us back a few weeks later because they didn't know how the stuff worked. Then they moved us to their home office. I worked there for a few years. I got a girlfriend and we were going to get an appartment. I noticed the signs that they would be doing a layoff soon. So I approached my boss and told him I was going to sign a lease on a new appartment (with increased costs) tomarrow and I wanted to make sure my job was secure. He said it was secure and the layoff rumors were just rumers. Then he reminded me of our saturday morning meeting to cover policy changes. So I went home, signed my new lease, work up saturday morning and went to work for the meeting. When I got to the meeting we were told we were all being layed off and asked to sign a Non disclusure agreement to get our last paycheck. I walked up to my boss, put my fist though the wall directly next to his head and left. My paycheck came on time.
This is an awful lot of work to get email from a single mailbox (Its rare, but its true. I only have 1 email account with the exception of gmail which I only use the web interface for). Thunderbird's spam filtering filters out 99% of my spam and I only use it at work (My home email is gmail and suprisingly gets only 1 to 2 spams a week and is filtered by google). I really like the interface of evolution and its features. It just seems like a waste of my time and resources to setup a mat just for spam filtering.
In a corp enviroment you sometimes also wish for local spam filtering. For example my work has a spam filter setup on our mail server. But because of 'lost' emails and complaints from higher ups (even though no mail was actually lost, just moved out of the inbox), our spam filtering is less then accurate. It allows though a lot of spam and I use thunderbird to filter that spam out. It doesn't seem like a good option to run my own private mail server just so I dont have to use thunderbird. However, I could see this getting setup as a side project if I had enough tech savvy people in the office who wanted more advanced spam filtering and would be smart enough to know where to look for false positives. But for now, I'll stick with thunderbird.
The only thing keeping me off this is the lack of good spam filtering. Even in linux I choose thunderbird because the spam filtering is easier to use and self containted. No need for bogofilter or spamassasin. How will you filter spam on a windows box?
Wine is not emulation. Its an API. Its no different then any other linux app. No different then chosing QT over GTK or any thing else.
Whats wrong with coding to a cross platform library?
I used to work for a very large midwest ISP. I did tech support. I would get calls constantly about our horrible service. We would drop connections, have hours of down time, lose emails, etc. I actually told some customers who were cussing at me I would cancel their accounts for them. I never had a single customer cancel service ever. I worked from 1996 to 2001. The only customers we ever had cancel where happy customers.
From what I understand the 'rendered' skin is a male topless skin. The hack is just using that skin on the female model thus giving her tits. Is the solution to make all males wear sports bras?
At what point does something stop being speech? If I say I want to gas a bus full of college kids that is free speech. If I film myself gasing a bus full of college kids that is also free speech? Yelling fire in a theater free speech? I think there are some things more important then freedom of speech. Like the right to not grow up with a man's cock in your ass.
I personally dont see why we need the ability to host video and pictures. Text is enough to get 'dangerous' messages across. I would support a text only service like this where I can not control what content I store. I will not directly or indirectly store child porn on my computer. I do not fee that child porn is speech. I feel that it is a record of one person harming another person. They are not doing it to inform us or make a point. I belive it stops being speech when it affects people who have no ablity to defend themselves. You should be allowed to express yourself, but I personally feel there is a limit. That limit is when you PHYSICALLY harm other people. Then its not free speech in my eyes, its just a person being a sick sadistic dick. If thats free speech, I'm all in favor of censorship.
I have a no cd or a fixed iso (small iso that meets the cd check requirements) for every single starforce game I own (which is a lot of games). Starforce can't stop piracy. Most pirates have no problem waiting a month or two to play a new game. I personally dont buy games until there is a no CD crack. I even waited to buy Oblivion (Note that oblivion does not use starforce) until there was a fixed iso. I perfer fixed iso's to no cd cracks as I can use daemon tools and the iso without patching my game. Plus those isos are usually less then 20 meg.
I dont like having a giant CD rack in my office to play games. I buy the game, rip it to my network and put the cd in my library room. If I can't do that, I dont buy the game. If they want to do copy protection, they should go with value added copy protection (such as unique keys to play online). Epic, bioware, and blizard seem to understand this. Hell epic even removes the no-cd crack with their first patch for Ut2004. Bioware did the same with nwn.
The one thing I can't find is if there is a user-agent switcher like firefox has (as an extention). I have a lot of websites I need to use for work that do user-agent checks to see if I am running IE.
The OS/2 thing was like what? A million years ago? See now the desktop wars are over. The martket is nowhere near the same as it was back then. Just because something didn't work a million years ago doesn't mean it wont work now.

I noticed that requires the xine backend, not gstreamer. Proving yet again that gstreamer is just not useful.
Screw Itunes drm stuff, I just want a player for gnome that has an equalizer and a itunes like interface. Is that so hard?
Now if we could only get them to support their novell client on distro's other than suse.
Hell these are the same users that believe ads on webpages that say their computer is out of date and install spyware.
There is a linux beta of google earth. It works great and I love it.
It's even more frustrating to see Xbox, Ps2, gamecube, and windows release of a game with no mac or linux.
Until they dont require a chroot to use 32bit apps and you can just apt-get firefox32 or something similar I do not believe they have amd64 support.
That's fine, execept for I dont have any PCI slots on my motherboard. I do however have a good supply of pci-e.
Nvidia's drivers are working well with Xorg 7.1 on my system. I had to modify the ebuild to allow it to be installed, but I have had no problems.
Evolution has not self contained junk mail filtering. You have to use a 3rd party vendor.

Its the male skin. Which was ment to be topless. You can remove the bra and put it on the female model.

But it has the tools for open ended games. There were awesome open ended mods and mmo's for nwn.
I belive battlefield 2 uses python for mods, as well as a few other games. I could be wrong though.
i would much rather they just use phyton or something.

Yup, thats why I dont try anything. I wouldn't want to risk failure.
