The whole premise of low VPN usage smacks of MBA-driven ignorance and Windows quirks.
No, some of us live in this thing called 'reality'. VPN is massively used everywhere for roadwarriors because not every damn application is some cloud drive piece of HTTPS shit.
Actually SSH is used partly for the same reason. To clarify the grandparent's point the, uh, 'reality' is that SSH is not the same thing as HTTPS, and it does not restrict one to working via web browser.
Anyway, it seems unlikely that the login numbers were skewed by the majority of workers finding SSH more convenient and nobody telling brass.
My guess is that VPN is massively used because the majority of people, including IT, are still working within the Windowsphere.
Steve jobs himself said, "When we were an agrarian nation, all cars were trucks because that's what you needed on the farms." Cars became more popular as cities rose, and things like power steering and automatic transmission became popular.
Great analogy even if the history within it is completely ficticious.
The major issue is that tablets are great content consumption devices for watching video or reading but piss poor content creation devices.
I think the real issue is that we are even discussing an opinion that stems from such someone whose existence has become completely irrelevant to the civilized world.
The title fails to mention the fact that it was the Muslim community, up here, that turned the two guys in. Had nothing to do with the FBI. A few men, in the Mosque that they went to, heard about the plan and reported it to the RCMP.
Also not the first time the Canadian Muslim community has played a central role in preventing terror.
The latest Gnome/Unity fiascos has put me completely off desktop Linux.
Quite the opposite here.
Indeed at first it did shake my confidence but it also made me look at the DE alternatives, which turn out to be many. There are even forks of Gnome 2, possible only because of open source. That flexibility has given me greater confidence.
Yes, but the important thing to the type of people who make these lists is that someone with a gun was victimized.
The fact that the weapons went from being owned by law-adiding citizens to being owned by violent criminals who are orders of magnitude more likely to kill someone, is completely irrelevant to them. The people who make these lists are more than happy to be accomplices to the robberies and murders their actions have facilitated. That just raises up anger against normal gun owners all the more, which again justifies making responsible people targets of crime.
Look, I think the NRA badly oversteps it mandate by fighting absolutely any form of regulation, when it should go back to concentrating on responsible gun ownership, but crime and violence are not so simple to stamp out.
The fact is that compliant gun owners are a much more conveniant target than criminals. If you can't solve the issue you can at least take your pound of flesh.
For if we don't pay taxes you better be prepared to pay Vinny down the street a bit of money to make sure that you don't get mugged, robbed, or killed.
Hey, at least Vinny is a true patriot.
Let's be honest, the majority of Republican voters cheer for billionaires who skip taxes, from their trailers, in red states that accept money from blue states.
You have to love the success story of a party that convinces people to fight for the right to push their own families to the back of the bus in order to patriotically benefit the rich.
The difference is that you made all those sharing decisions for yourself. Canonical should not make that choice for you by default. They can certainly make it an easy-to-drool-on option, but it should not be the system default.
Agreed. Most users are not even made aware they are being spied on by default or that there is a way to opt out.
Canonical has done some good for Linux so I will give them a chance to fix this before I ditch them, and by extension all the computers I manage. Let's hope they have a change of heart on this one.
If HTML5 support matures a bit more, Flash Professional will probably evolve into an HTML 5 rich content authoring platform. This is great from Adobe's perspective - they get to keep the profitable bit (the authoring tool) and let other companies absorb develop their their loss leader.
And Adobe has certainly done well with HTML 4 authoring tools. This should be a natural step for them.
I'm sure illiterate people have even more money.
Have you tried acting like a normal human being instead of getting constantly ultra-defensive about your country?
Actually I believe that is pretty normal. I've heard plenty of non-USAsians get defensive when someone from another country criticizes them.
Besides, the real problem with America is the festering sore sitting on top of their back. Not sharing its bandwidth.

Booyeah! We got someone from the MPAA here, take your rights and then beat you up if you stand up for yourself!
It's only rude, creepy and invasive to those of us who don't make a fortune datamining every step, click, thought and breath of the human population.
I think the real issue is that we are even discussing an opinion that stems from such someone whose existence has become completely irrelevant to the civilized world.

Or just soak a rag in a coloured fluid like diesel oil and drape it over the bulb. A lot simpler than hacking the bulb.

Wait, you win the argument by destroying what you believe has value? (and then going to the gas chamber)
Except that there aren't.
When you think about the fact that the GP posted this on a "Geek" website, I am deeply saddened and worried by the lack of basic science education.
I too, am heavily ensaddened.
crazyjj is clearly the stupidiest scientition in the internet.

Well, you had better tell that to Google since it is the core language for all Android apps.
Not to mention server side and Google Web Toolkit.

They are better than 8 although 9 is outdated and continues to hinder the adoption of HTML5.

The real reason has nothing to do with logistics. Animals are not patentable.

Dear Adobe, Please focus on your excellent developer tools and let Flash die.
Add XFCE's lightweight compositing option + Cairo Dock and you have a very shiny desktop which is still lighter and more responsive than most.
From your post I am now realizing it was only one person. They turned down the wishes of the majority for only one person.
So I can answer your question. It was me.

(Sony's eyes darting left and right) Enemies, enemies everywhere!
The only failproof solution is for Sony to jail everyone in existence so nobody can purchase from them and thereby potentially do them harm.
Because it certainly sounds like the only way to harm Sony is to purchase from them.
