    I agree with your points, but you must admit, the same "impossiblity" has been claimed for previous systems too. :) Someone will figure out a way to do it sooner or later. If not linux, then at least some kind of home-brew dev'ing of some type.

    We've all known Linux has got Microsoft all worried, but they've always denied it.

    Umm... no, the haven't. Anyone who remembers the Halloween documents (and the subsequent Microsoft statement saying "ya, those were real") knows that they have always considered it a threat and they've made no secret of it.

    Not really a huge deal... just think of the non-standard Qt constructs as macros and go about your life. MFC/VC generates code too, the same as Qt's moc.

    I always find it funny how MS is quick to point out Apple and Linux as competitors, so they can say that they in fact don't have a monopoly, when in reality, they would like NOTHING more than to see all alternatives disappear. (I guess thats just how capitalism works though.... nevermind.)

    Have you heard of WinVNC? A lot more useful when dealing with GUI's, because you can see exactly what the remote monitor is showing. I arranged some perl bits on her machine to A) relay her current IP (she has cable/dhcp) to me, and B) launch the vncserver. Then I can connect and fix her problem. :)

    Well, my guess is: what the users who report gradual fade-off are actually witnessing is the client's use of a running average to tell you at what kps you're downloading. If I'm leeching at top speed, and the connection goes down, it's going to take a while for the client to report "0 kps" as it will perform an average over time of how fast my download is going.

    Think about that for a moment.

    Thought about it. For two moments. Nothing out of the ordinary (aside from the unfortunate suicide). I don't think it would be an amazing happenstance for his family to ask that nothing be revealed until after he was cremated.

    Besides, the cat is long since out of the bag. He already created the technology. What would anyone have to gain by killing him (if that is even what you are implying)? To send a message to other rogue developers? Is corporate America at that point yet? I doubt it, especially when buying laws is so much easier to do.

    Man, I just don't understand Lucas anymore. If this project was all I thought about and worked on for 20 years, and if I knew that my suck-assedness was so high, I would love to hand the reins over to someone who could do a better job, if only for the love of the project.

    It's kind of like your kids leaving home for school or work or whatnot. You don't want to see them go, but its for their own good.

    Is it possible that he does not recognize how bad he sucks? This is the only imaginable excuse I can think of for this.
