    but I wouldn't be averse to simply letting things go and seeing those "70 million" TV's go dark.

    Imagine the sound of 70 million Americans opening their front doors and taking in some of the world outside their living rooms. it'd be like on the simpsons when they banned itchy and scratchy.

    the mini mac came out and i was so close to buying one; my old pc was killed by friends i left it with while travelling. only thing stopping me was that i know me, and i know eventually ill buy another desktop gaming pc leaving me with 2 desktops, which seemed like a bit of a waste. anyhow the moral of this story is that mini macs got me interested, then cheaper faster powerbooks sealed the deal :P - lucas powerbook user

    ill give you the interface, but exactly whats wrong with the way the mousewheel works? scrolls fine for me... unless you actually mean middle click, which is broken in the latest stable, but fixed in the trunk nightlies (of which im running a build with my own tweaks; ie. maximizing works the windows way. whats the point in a 128px gap on the right?)

    A new webpage is great but until the browser supports extentions its no good to me. browsing without adblock (amongst others) just doesnt feel like browsing anymore. why would one use camino over safari anyhow? exentions are the main reason i use firefox over safari; remove that from the equation and im not sure it would take much to make me swap

    i never could understand fanboys. owning a computer of type A does not restrict you from owning a computer of type B as well; there is no clause in apples licencing saying you cant own an intel pc with linux on it since you own a mac. knowing both is better than knowing one

    well, like many people, this is the mac that will finally get me owning one but after having a look on streetwise.com.au (the first 3rd party australian mac seller i came across) at the prices of adding a larger hdd + ram + wireless card im left thinking that perhaps the apple warrenty isnt that valuable after all.

    is there anything special to note when upgrading a mac or can i throw a standard pc hdd in there?

    is the ram some special type that im not going to find at normal pc shops?

    how about the wireless card? does this thing only take apples airport card or whatever they call it or can i buy generic ones?

    I have an A7V classic that's been upgraded to a 2.2GHz Athlon XP-M
    how'd you manage that? I had an A7V (the original one, i assume that what you mean by classic); it only supported 100MHz fsb processors and a 12.5 multiplier. how'd you get it to work with a 2.2GHz?

    Why the hell did they put a 3.4 ghz proc in something thats designed to run with no hdd/os? whats it going to do besides generate heat? I mean, sure you could install a hdd and os then do more with it; but why bother with such a powerful proc by default in a pc designed to run without those things?

    seems like it would make more sense to throw in the cheapest/lowest wattage processor they could get their hands on, i doubt any proc still in production couldnt handle dvd decoding etc.

    Please remember that much of the Linux user base is made up of dissatisfied ex-Windows users so the Linux community is usually much more well informed and qualified on Windows than is the case the other way around.
    nope, the linux community is made up of people who are informed and qualified on windows 3.0/3.1/95/[insert other out of date version of windows here]. 99% of jabs at windows made by linux losers are things that have been fixed for years

    this shouldnt be modded down, to many shallow minded mods about. like many others, id love to see linux dominate the OS market BUT i also strongly believe that the best tool should be used for the job and in the case of pro photography that tool is not linux. feel free to take your pick of any of the major desktop OS's that arent linux, im not going to favour one over the other

    not really. I hated almost every book that I was forced to read in school; I hated being forced to over-analyse them and "find" some bullshit deeper meaning in order to regurgitate what the teacher wanted to hear in essay form. a story could never be just a story, it had to have some cryptic meaning (that the author probably never even intended). I read 1984 and i thought it was brilliant. If school had made me read it i know I wouldnt feel the same way about it

    in 0.10 (PR1 NOT FINAL) for win32 theres definately a "copy image" right above "copy image location" and below "view image", and im pretty sure its been there in previous versions too. its anyones guess why they're leaving it out for you mac people

    am I the only one who couldnt spot the difference in quality between the different cables? they make the claim s-video is best of the three, and from my own experiences connecting an xbox up to a big tv different ways, id say s-video does look better but those screnshots show no difference. is this something that would make a difference if i could see the moving pictures or are they just jackasses paying for more expensive cables when the bottleneck in quality is not the cables carrying the signal?

    how is mp3 being intentionally crippled? because they wont let you encode it lower than 128kbps? i mean damn microsoft, trying to make people use sensible rates to encode their cds. id be happy if they crippled it so 192kbps was the lowest possible rate
