I'd say mpeg or DivX. DivX isn't really standard, so to speak, but practiaclly everyone already has it so they can watch their downloaded movies and spite the MPAA
why does when microsoft releases a patch affect when you, the network admin, deploy it? what is stopping you from updating machines once a month regardless of when MS actually releases them? seems kinda stupid to me
as has been previously commented, xp and 2k do a fine job of running games. heck, when was the last time a game was written that the nt kernel wasnt its target platform? I'd like to hear of ANY game released in the past 3 years that runs better on 98se than on xp. go ahead, prove me wrong

sort of... they are definately taking snapshots, but it isn't too strict on the unobscured part. I was playing around with this before, opened a bunch of stuff to try it out using the gnome menu, hit alt+tab and a lot of the windows showed the gnome menu overlaying them (obviously from where I had opened the next program and not see the window since)
errr... the windows managers job is to manage windows. sounds to me like the functionality in question does just that. impelmenting it elsewhere would NOT be the unix way of thinking

Man I wish i had your sources, standard single tabs weren't even near that back in the 60s. it was more like 250-300 micrograms back then, and these days 100-150 micrograms is about all you can expect
