In 2003, we published reports that intelligence professionals had raised doubts about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and questioned claims of a link between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. Our detractors claimed we made the whole thing up. Two years later, we were proven right.
We were the first news outlet to identify the names of women who claimed sexual abuse by Bill Clinton when he was attorney general and later governor of Arkansas.
That exact same thought crossed my mind, and I've come to the conclusion that this isn't the first round of information "requests." Once the Feds get their hands on this information, they'll shut up for a year or two and then demand search logs with identifying information.
You must (2) demand that your government fund education.
Are you insane? Do you honestly think that government schools will teach against the government? No, because they are part of the government. Just as Catholic priests don't preach against the Pope, so will government schools not speak against the government.
I also recommend that people watch Why We Fight, a look at the rise of the military-industrial complex. Not fully related to surveillance, and yet not fully unrelated, either.
WTF is this? I posted using my karma bonus, and the score was at Score:5, Informative a half hour ago. No negative moderations have occured, and now my post's moderation history doesn't say I used my karma bonus.

Freedom over. Police state = very yes.
"You're either with us or against us." You're accused of being anti-American, treasonous, or a traitor if you disagree with the government.
I think Microsoft is just practicing government tactics; after all, if it's going to be like one, it has to act like one.
And now I realize that tepples was talking about the Genesis, not the Saturn.
These things work wonders on flammables. (Last I check, applications on paper were flammable.) There you have it! Nothing's left but ashes.
What problem cannot be solved with fire?
It's not the Federal government's job to do anything outside of the Constitution.

That precedent is this: When we ask for whatever information we want, you'd better damned well give it to us!
I apologize for the bad link. I meant Why We Fight , the 2005 documentary.

No, wait! I meant you forgot breasts as a choice!
