    Ron Paul stands for the people of America? He supports the reintroduction of the gold standard....
    Having the dollar backed by gold keeps the government from raping our currency. In other words, having a gold standard means the money that the government prints has to be redeemable for something of value. Fiat money is the easiest way for the government to manipulate the economy, and the Feds seem to be doing a really good job of it, too.

    Hell, the government shouldn't even be printing money, whether backed by precious metals or not, since the Constitution allows it to coin money:
    The Congress shall have power....
    To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
    To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;
    But we haven't followed that "...damned piece of paper" in over 130 years, so why should we start now?

    This is so much more insightful than funny. Or maybe it's funny because it's so insightful. The big result of a two-party system is that the two parties can lock out independent and "third-party" candidates with their muscle. At the same time, the two parties are pitting themselves against each other, masquerading as two truly different bodies of thought. The common people are thus led to believe that they are truly voting for change, reducing votes for "third-party" to a mere statement that you vote your mind.

    God bless America, indeed.

    Bingo! The only thing that truly threatens a leviathan government such as ours is an informed, thinking citizenry. But simply taking away the information will not work. You have to dumb them down in order for them to be unable to analyze why the government would do something (such as passing the USA PATRIOT Act).

    Governments always strive for more power. It's in their nature. Our government has much power, and it's grabbing for even more of it. We the informed need to wake up our compatriots before it's too late.

    And we're running out of time.
