Another major reason why the government we installed was a failure is because those government are almost identical to the one we ousted, just more friendly to us. The war and those "Give them Democracy" BS (pardon the language) are just a mask to cover up the true intention, replacing a corrupted government that hate us with a corrupted government that like us.

That the government doesn't have money! Instead of using lame excuses as safety issues for people who knows its unsafe, they should just say it straight out that they don't have money left over from the wars to fund space program. And the only reason why we are not getting anywhere is because the government don't want to pay for it. We already have the technology to go to Mars or the ability to adapt existing technology to do it.
ISS is moderatedly shielded for this kind of thing. And they are close enough to earth that the earth magnetic field will stop or dampen the CME enough for the ISS's shielding to work.
If not, we would have a lot of dead/mutated/sterile astronauts long before now.
Actually, it won't be useful. For one, the Earth own magnetic field deflects the CME towards the poles. If the plasma particles manage to get pass Earth's magnetic field, it will get through a tin foil hat with no problem. Of course, if that happened, you won't have to worry about people telling you that your tin-foil hat won't work.
The 11 years sunspot cycle merely means that it is almost a guarantee that the sun will have peak sunspot activity every 11 years, it doesn't mean that there wouldn't be any activity between the two peaks.>BR>

1. Black hole collided very far away, the gravity wave it generate hits the sun.
2. A hypernova occured, and a significant amount of gamma radiatiobn just happened to hit the sun and misses the earth.
3. The sun is sentient, and was throwing a tantrum.
4. An alien decided to screw up the sunspot cycle as an experiment to see human's response to it.
5. An alien, again, this time weapon testing on the sun.
Not sure about when, but probably not, since it's close to winter, and most chorono mass will be pulled towards the sound, ccausing large aurora there. But, if its strong enough, maybe you can see it near horizon.
Next time you vote and found out you need to vote on Diebold machine, just tell them you don't trust the machine and refuse vote. Or if possible, request a paper ballot.
Psychology and Sociology (one small one large) can be quantified as the neural electrical feedback on sensory input and motor output between individuals and/or environment. When those sensory input and motor output and the feedback process can be quantified to a acceptable precision. Psychology and Sociology becomes a quantifiable science.

As for F-18 vs Camel, a missle can track an object the size of an piston engine.

It's not that interesting really, you would work fast and try to impress someone (DOD) shaking huge wad of cash under your nose. And the ability to look into previously classified integrated circuits first hand.
I could think of one reason why keeping alien landing related information locked up would be good for public safety. Remember the story about the "War of the World" broadcast on October 30th, 1938 that broad on mass hysteria? and that was just fiction.
