Made perfect sense to me. If you're in college, you're not a child left behind. But further attempts at monitoring should be [left behind].
Basically, "The No Child Left Behind Act" should not concern those who have successfully made it to college, because the act seems to be concerned with helping children in elementary, middle, and high schools. Why require more private information than is needed?
P.S. - Disney hasn't done anything original on their own in YEARS (nay, DECADES).
Speak for yourself. "The Lion King", "Aladdin", and "The Little Mermaid" were wonderful movies with excellent musical scores. Enough of these baseless Disney bashings.
People who make music were always grossly overpaid and I don't think most of them deserve it.
I hate it when people think that when someone makes a lot of money, they somehow don't deserve it. How would you like it if someone at the poverty level decided that you, as a middle class citizen, didn't deserve what you made either?
Actually, Terraserver is finally updating their up-to-a-decade-old black and white satellite photos of the entire United States (and Canada and Mexico). They're updating them with color photos from 2002, but they haven't done a lot of the major cities. My guess is - fear of security. For example, some of the buildings in the Washington, D.C. photos are blurred. I don't think it really makes a difference to security though. People who want to cause harm don't need satellite images.
Also...SpaceImaging.com's good - they have lots of famous places in their gallery, as well as a bunch of universities.
No, it's not too much for a simple end user. Many simple end users (including the relatively computer illiterate) are adopting Firefox or Mozilla, especially at universities across the nation. And they love it.
No, it's not Firefox's fault. It's USAToday.com's fault for writing their Flash detection code poorly. I've contacted them twice in the past, and their only response was that they didn't support Mozilla family browsers.
Flash on Firefox works perfectly on pretty much all the other sites, and not everyone visits USAToday.com.
I think that OPEC is different in that they don't charge a ridiculously higher price than the expected price. My guess is that RAM prices were inflated by a much larger percent than oil prices.
I doubt that wind power would only "slightly" decrease the severity of the weather, unless you have a reliable source that proves it, no offense.
My guess is that, with enough wind power plants, some fairly significant effects on the regional weather could take place, similar to how nuclear power plants' steam can raise the humidity of a region.
I give a rat's ass how all the skyscrapers in Manhattan changed wind patterns. Just because damage has already been done during a time when people didn't understand the consequences, doesn't mean that one can justify causing further damage with a wind power farm.
How about...a first-rate portal since its founding? It seems that quite a few people scoff at anything that's not Google/Apple/Linux/etc. without much basis. While Yahoo! Search may have lost its number one position a few years ago, it has certainly reworked its search engine to the point where it's comparable to Google's. It's just that many Slashdotters have tried no search engine recently other than Google, so they wouldn't know.
While I don't agree with the boolean function analogy, I do agree with you that stealing to feed one's family does not make it okay. This reminds me of something else than disturbs me - that there are people who think that it's okay to steal from someone with a fairly large amount of wealth (like music artists or CEOs of disliked companies). Just because a music artists' income is much higher than the average income, doesn't mean that they don't deserve every penny they earn. I've heard many people say, "So-and-so has so much money; he can go without that additional twenty dollars." as a basis for stealing.
If we just replace the act of "stealing" with "murdering", then it would put things in clearer perspective. Theoretically speaking, is it okay to murder someone to feed your family?
Actually, I know people who stick with IE because their banking or online trading sites are designed for IE (and function unpredictably on Firefox). Those people don't switch to the more stable and secure Firefox because they don't want any hassles whatsoever while they're working.
Exactly. Finally, another person who understands. Honestly, part of the reason why people keep classifying this manufactured music as bad is because other people claim that it's bad. It's just the cool thing to do. The power of influence can really blind you over what's really your own opinion and what isn't. These artists don't hit the top of the charts because everyone hates them. Think about it.
Actually, 100 MB is plenty for me. I think that the Yahoo! Mail interface is pretty clean already, and it offers convenience because of integration with other Yahoo! features I use, like My Yahoo!, Yahoo! Messenger, and GeoCities. There seems to be a lot of biased favoring towards Google at Slashdot just because it's Google.
Are you referring to my.yahoo.com? Mine still looks the same, and I still have the old outdated My Yahoo! logo. Perhaps they only changed the default purple skin.
Actually, I've had a great experience with HP. My moving device under my scanner bed was behaving strangely, and after several minutes on the phone with customer service, they gladly asked me to send it in, and I got a replacement that worked just fine very soon afterwards. It doesn't look like a refurb, but I have no way to tell.

Edit: (By the way, that first line was supposed to be in quotes, as it was a quotation from the parent thread.)

Unless of course...you promote socialism.

But I'm sure that many Slashdotters wouldn't be so critical if it was Steve Jobs donating towards the building.

Good point. I didn't see it that way. Thanks, moonbender.

Another free (but not open-source) stickies program for Windows is 3M's Post-it® Software Notes Lite.

(I like your Stickies clone, by the way, me being an Apple fan. I kind of wish I didn't have to use Microsoft.NET, but ah well.)

Lufthansa's business class and first class seats have power outlets that you can plug into.
No...for as far back as I can remember, our high school used C++ for years in APCS. Other slashdotters are saying this too.
You forgot about digital camera photos. Several years of digital camera photos from a 4 megapixel camera can bring you into the gigabytes range.
And you may not need such high speed for web browsing, but you might want it for faster bootups and quicker application launches.
And "businesses" include those who need to use intense software like Matlab, AutoCAD, and Photoshop. Don't forget that.
People don't want to show off.
A lot of people instead like that white earbuds MATCH the color of the white iPod. They also look stylish. It's a style issue.

Ooo...I like this idea. Another idea: how about a Windows port (interface and all)?
