  1. Re:No. on Russia To Save Its ISS Modules · · Score: 1

I think there is a big difference between a robot that lasts way beyond its designed lifetime and space module that carries people.
The ISS is in a very hostile environment that undergoes millions of temperature and stress cycles over its lifetime.
Eventually the metal will fatigue and fail. It is no different than what happens with an aircraft over its lifetime.
Once you get past a certain point you can not fully trust the structural integrity with people on board.

I was in a similar situation. The first thing I did was try to figure out how to ensure that once I started an exercise routine, I could continue it. It had to be a lifestyle change.

Initially I bought an exercise bike, but later I bought a treadmill. Since I did not want to spend thirty minutes staring at a wall while I ran, I bought a 13 inch flat panel TV and attached it to the wall in front of my treadmill. I attached a DVD player and watch rentals from netflix. Watching something with lots of action makes it easier to push yourself harder.

The most important thing to maintain my routine is that I do my run as soon as I get home from work. I do not let myself get sidetracked on anything else.
I have been following this routine for about 5 years now.

In addition to keeping the weight off, it has really helped with stress levels. I have also found that the days I usually feel worn down and tired after work are the days that I have my best runs.

I am wondering why human rights groups do not use UAV's to try and monitor abuses. They are small and could be launched anonymously from bordering countries.
They could even be inexpensive enough to not bother with recovery. This could make it more difficult for authorities to trace the aircraft back to the launch site or originating country.

I have to agree as well. By failing to impeach, a dangerous precedent is being set. We are saying it is okay for presidents, regardless of the political party, to ignore the constitution and govern in a monarchical fashion when it is convenient to do so. By failing to draft articles of impeachment, Congress is failing their constitutional responsibility of checking the power of the president.

The problem appears to have gone away once I uninstalled the latest patches. No way to know which one was causing the problem. This was on a Windows XPSP2 box.

This make me think of a B sci fi movie I saw many years ago and I can not remember the title of.

I think it was black and white. It was about a scientist who created a simulation of the world that he could watch under a microscope. As he watched history, which progressed at an accelerated rate, and a war happened he was attacked by a ghost of some kind. Just as history was to the point that he could see what would happen in the future he was attacked a final time by the ghost and had to destroy the experiment before the ghost killed him. I guess the moral being you are not allowed to know the future.
