considering that itunes is the only interface into the apple store i think that some downloads may have be to get access to the store not to neccessarily change their media player settings or to disable their media player management software.
so i don't agree with you when you say choose itunes, use itunes.
Can someone please fill me in on why we don't use CORBA instead?
because CORBA is a 20 year old word and XML is a 5 year old word which stands for worthless technology used to replace technology that was fast better and not broken to begin with.
actually some feel that by using XML that they can be interoperable with anything out there. i can't wait for another 3-4 years to go by and what the development costs increases shown for using XML. maybe then people will back off of it.
they did say in the article that they were shooting for 1k machines
so your figures are slightly off
1,000,000 for parts
200,000 for space
350,000 laber
-------------------
1.55 million.
5. If all else fails, remember that it is your line, and you are under no obligation to be polite with unwanted callers.
i actually got into an arguement with my roommates over this. when i had a land line i would answer telemarketing calls and if it was a woman either 1. hit on her 2. describe acts with me and her with unmentionable pieces of our bodies. or 3. tell them i had sex with their mother/their mother was dead. stuff like that.
my roommates mad fun of me saying they could sue me and i was like "how they called me" and they were like "but you said..." and i said back "they could have always hung up"
had a lot of fun doing this. one time i kept a telemarketer on for 70 minutes just making them redo their script like "ok tell me more about this" then say "i don't have any money" they were so scripted that they would just keep going.
about the don't call me again thing. i had ADT call me 3 times a week when i first moved into my condo. after about 3 weeks i told the guy to come down and would always schedule a time i wasn't home. funny thing was they kept calling back.
Sadly, this may force FSF's hand and cause them to enter into a lawsuit with SCO as representation for all of the developers that contributed to anything SCO is relicensing.
wouldn't it be really funny if they planned this so that they could funnel the SCO money to the FSF in a legal manor?
SCO: FSF we're gonna create these outrageous claims about us owning linux
FSF: OK
SCO: in 1 year sue us and when you win all SCO's money is your SCO goes bankrupt and doesn't need to pay back it's backer and loans.
FSF: GOOD PLAN!!!!
anyone have any link to/ have screen shots of the actualy desktop environment? every shot i've seen seemed to be focused on how "Easy" it is to install.
thxs.
if they even tell you they are using the RFID. they will most likely just label it a ID and after 5 years no one will remember that there is a RF in there so you wont even know.
if you really want more time to yourself...

become a subcontractor. you get all the benifits of a normal employee only they can't make you work more then 40 hours without paying more money ^_^ it works great.
a friend on mine is working at IBM on the chip and so far results are not good. i wouldn't expect that date to be wrong although they'll try to push it for Xmas next year.
i believe it was said in another post but really people will continue to sue game companies for stuff like this until someone wins and game companies back off or until a game company counter sues for bad press about their game.
with the walmart banning thing i believe Billy Joel had it best when he had one of his albums banned and it ended up being his best selling album at the time. parental disobidence will drive people to games not at wal-mart. really the only reason to get a game on a wal-mart shelf is for kids to pick up while their parents are shopping and say "buy me this"
what i believe is that soon all media, books, music, movies, and game will have a EULA that basically comes down to the following
"by reading/listening/watching/playing this product you give up all your rights to sue the publisher for anything"
kind of reminds me of the simpsons episode where marge reads the letter sent home out loud and it says "by reading this out loud you give up the right to sue the school" or something like that (not a HUGE simpsons fan, casual watcher)
my end comment is this. companies will protect themselves however they need to but until a actual court case wins they will not know how to protect themselves so they will continue along as if they have no need to.
not really. theives would only need to steal your cell ID number (i believe it's called an ESN number) which will make the cell system think your phone is yours. so if they program a phone with it they are effectively you. they can then send money to themselves via SMS.
if they can make it degrade in 50 years can they make it degrade in 1 year forcing users to upgrade hardware/software and buy music/movies again?
"i mean.. come on" -Jimmy from South Park
seriously though. i can forsee MS using this to force people to upgrade. the RIAA using this to force people to purchase the same CD again! movie makers similarly.
biodegrading is nice but i wont buy it or purposely purchase a CD/DVD using this technology until the rights of the little guy (me) are considered. I.E. a law forcing it not to biodegrade for X time and a Digital right to transfer it to another media.
do you know how long it would take to switch over all phones/phone numbers to other then 10 digit dialing? how much money it would cost?
my parents work for the tele-cos and i worked for the tele-cos for a while. and believe me it would take lots of time and money.
Ex. remember when they switched 888 to be toll free in addition to 800? that took close to a year and several million dollars. all because one tele-co thought it was great marketing to sell an 800 number to parents with kids in college.
as far as the tele-co systems go... they are legacy systems at this point. VoIP will be their saving grace. which IMHO will only work when IPv6 is released.
i would say as far as the tele-cos are concerned those systems aren't changing any time soon.

i beleive that is called a corporate take over. and it's a problem every public co. has.
well when you think about it why is an Isreali company improving US homeland security?
