Not bad solution, bat I would prefer a more directly use of the sunshine on the moon... with appropriate filtration.

Maybe instead of using solar cells to power a lightning system a better idea would be to use light collectors and then conduct the light through optical fibers to the greenhouse where plants grow.

  6. Lunar sunshine and lunar soil on Growing Plants In Lunar Gravity · · Score: 3, Interesting

Rather than answering the question about if a plant can grow in lunar gravity, I think it would be far more interesting to know if a plant can grow on lunar soil and with lunar sunshine.

Not directly of course! But what kind of soil treatment, additives and sunshine/radiation filtering would have to be done to be able to grow plants on a moon based greenhouse.

The question is. How much of what the moon offers can we use to grow plants there, and what adaptations must be done both to lunar based greenhouse and plants to use as much of moon resources as possible?

Sunshine during the day doesnt seem to be a problem in the moon ;-)

MS just need to collect money every three years. They upgrade the OS telling people they get new and shiny technology. The truth is that there is no real compelling reason to upgrade from 2000 to XP to Vista. No real gain. They just throw new "functionalities "which only annoy the user, but which real intentions is either piss them off into migrating (cancelling support for legacy applications) or create new benifits "for them" instead for the user (DRMzation). I think instead of waiting for Windows 7 or migrating to OSX, I will just wait for Google OS ;-) Linux been second option (Kubuntu)

  11. A hidden chinese asset? on Explore the Web From China · · Score: 1

With all the hardware and manpower they have available to operate the great Chinese Firewall(tm), I wonder why are not offering it as a internet service.

They could make options oriented to different customers. For example, other authoritarian countries with different censorship requirements, but also children access from schools, public institutions or companies where access to "certain" pages have/must/should be restricted.

They can also offer services through their "Internet commentators," or so-called Fifty Cent Party, to sway public opinion online, much like viral marketing works in the private sector around the world. They could rent that service too. Useful for PR, political campaigns, marketing or anything that has something to do with influencing(manipulating) public opinion in most different directions

They could even offer a free option, with adds, so people can try first. Adds could be used to promote China's world-view/companies/products and tourism :-)

If China wants to make inroads in the service market, it is a good idea to use something already in place that no one else has. I think they really have a hidden unused asset in that "Great China Firewall". They also have a catchy brand name! I hope they have already registered it! ;-)

Being the sounds implemented in software rather than in hardware. It would give a greatly enhanced uses experience. For example: huuuummm.......hummmm..........hummm................ The Flash drive is running happily. Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Heavy activity. Rumble.....rumble......rumble..... Something is going wrong. Klonk....klonk........klonk........ Something is broken. Sharpness of sound can also adjusted as the drive ages. Sloooooower sound help to indicate... time for a new drive!!
