I fully realise where rootkits came from and what they do. But like I stated in another reply rootkits are a whole lot more difficult to install than just having a user double-click an attachment or, in some cases, just browse the web.
yeah, because there aren't any rootkits for Linux, right?
No, because it's much harder for the rootkit to be installed on a *nix-based OS. Who said anything about Linux anyway? I prefer Macs and Suns to Linux.
"Freedom of speech" arose from the priciple that anyone should be allowed to voice a POLITICAL opinion without reprocussions.
Is that why pastors cannot talk about political candidates during elections? Religious organizations shouldn't have their rights suppressed just because of what they believe. It's the government who should stay out of religion and not the other way around. That was the intent of the Jefferson letter to the Danbury Baptists.
Hate legislation has been brought in to curtail the abuse of the freedom of speech principle to prevent the nauseating flood of garbage from those that cannot accept the opinion (or existence) of others.
Not everyone accepts your point of view. Does that make your point of view or opinions garbage? No. They are still your opinions and you have just as much of a right to voice your opinions to your President/Senotors/Congressmen/... as everyone else. What's important here, that most people all too often forget, is that both sides can express their views to their government without repercussions and not just one side or the popular side.
It's a given that Canada is becoming a socialist state. Just look at the many programs that are run by the government. I was merely siting an example of the next step they are taking in the wrong direction.
Admittedly, I could have worded it better and, yes, that is authoritarianism. What liberalism has to do with this conversation I don't know.
Free speech is systematically being taken away from the people. Far more so that here in US. When a person can be legally arrested for being "politically incorrect" a huge red flag should go up. Unfortunately, that's the direction the US is headed...
I would have to agree with you on this one. I just received my Office:mac 2004 Professional this past week and have enjoyed the experience quite a bit. The only reason I bought it was because my employer has an MS Home Use Program agreement with MS. I paid $20 for my copy.;-)
I don't really like the direction these kinds of games are taking us. We initially have to pay above average prices for the game and then are restricted where we can play the game. What happened to good 'ole host your own server games? IMO, this is not a good precedent at all.
Why anyone thinks cheating on your taxes is right is beyond me. These same kind of loopholes are what people in Congress use to get away with things that make us (the public) angry at them. Maybe they really are reflecting the will of the people...
Not really. N1 Grid Containers will allow the admin to basically chop up a machine into "virtual machines" or "environments." For example, a 12 CPU machine can be changed from a single server into 4 three CPU machines making it possible to have a development server and 3 test servers. N1 Grid Containers are much more than this but it just an example.
DTrace comes with Solaris 10 and it allows you to watch basically ever aspect of a program's execution. It can tell you how many times it pounds a particular library, which area of that library is being called, or even show you the top ten, twenty, etc libraries being called. Libraries were just an example. DTrace will help you make your programs more efficient. It is said that Sun debugged their own kernel using DTrace in Solaris 10.
I think the first thing he should do is install Solaris 10 with DTrace and debug with a passion. DTrace will reveal all those nasty problem areas making it easier to fix.
I don't see how you can say that since his purpose was to illegally make use of someone else's assets. As someone else has pointed out, this is no different than having substandard locks on one's house. Just because someone can easily break into your house doesn't make the actions of the robber justified.
Saying that the robber broke in to store his couch in the basement just so he can point out the substandard locks is just stupid.
I think you've touched on a very important point. Most shareholders today don't care about the woking conditions of the employees. That's what OSHA is for, right? Well, what if that company only does the marketing for a product that is made oversees, which is NOT regulated by OSHA?
The bottom line is all too often blind to real life issues.
If this happens it can only spell trouble for America's economy. These are the kind of jobs and businesses that need to stay in America. This is out-sourcing to the extreme.
Reminds me of starving dogs staring at a cat through a chain-link fence waiting for the gate to open.
Or it could just be FUD that's circulated by those sick of Apple's music player market domination.

I can't help but laugh at the moderation of my original post. It was modded reduntant after being the 9th comment to the story. Ha ha ha...

All the more reason to use a *nix-based OS.
I see your out to make friends today.

That would depend on how good your lawyer is!

Actually, I was thinking of the Canadian one dollar coin. Nicknaming the new driver's license the loonie would fit here as well.
It's also from a guy who provides a link where you can download virus source code. Go figure...

Ha! I've been rated a troll! That's too funny. Someone obviously doesn't know that definition of a troll.
