I am a hunter and I disapprove of the behavior of both parties.
Pigeon is actually a decent tasting bird. In my view a hunter doesn't kill anything they don't intend to eat, outside of honest pest control. If they are shooting captive raised birds without consuming them they are doing it for sport, and it's a sick sport I wouldn't participate in.
If it's a legal sport though the activists need to take their fight to the legislature and not harass law abiding citizens. I'd personally be all for making pigeon a game bird with a year round season and no limit just so the meat couldn't be wasted.
If we're going to assume conspiracy, put down the DEA, prisons, and drug cartels as behind it too, since they all benefit (speaking of which anyone who talks about 'securing the border' but opposes legalization is an absolute tool).
I think the real reason is simply that too many people think that legalizing cannabis is condoning drugs and criminals and reefer madness and stupid potheads like Carl Sagan and will cause an unacceptable increase in crime and all this negative imagery, while outlawing alcohol is anti-freedom because it is your right to get drunk and its acceptable some people get flattened by drunk drivers in a free society. I'm not saying it makes any sense whatsoever, but I think it is a more plausible explanation than blaming alcohol and tobacco companies (and I've heard pharmaceutical companies blamed too) companies, unless you have evidence that it is actually happening. Not saying I'd be surprised, I know some of the original push involved paper industry money IIRC that didn't want competition from hemp fiber, just that I'd like hard proof it is corruption as opposed to politicians simply catering to irrationality.
And who do you think is leveraging that fear and financing the campaigns to keep it illegal? It's totally their fault.
They can always print the percentage of foreign manufacturing on their package.
Percentage of what?
Weight?
Volume?
Cost?
Which parts float in water?
Why the fuck do you want it to be so complicated? The majority of the labor in any electronic device is in assembling it. If they put it together here in the US, they spent a significant amount in wages in an area that desperately needs it.
I've known friends in both manufacturing and assembly, and let me tell you the assembly jobs are better paying, require more skills, and are more satisfying to do. Manufacturing is often as simple as pushing a button to cycle a machine and then visually inspecting the output. For 12 hours. As mind numbing as putting the same thing together over and over together sounds, it's a hell of a lot more stimulating than pushing a button.
Right. I was going to be the next Einstein, I just couldn't be bothered to get up in the morning.
I'm really sorry but your excuse for not pursuing science further is shallow and hollow.
As "good" people, we tend to see the world as "us," the good people vs "them," the bad people
Cops see the world exactly the same way, except YOU are not included in the group called "us"
Stop thinking of yourself as a good law abiding citizen and pretend you're a member of organized crime.
That should help recalibrate your expectation of privacy.
That would be true if we did not have a presumption of innocence.
I think cops see boring, normal people and apparently "interesting" people.
Also, members of organized crime have rights. Of course they lose some if they come under suspicion of a crime (such as being a member of a criminal organisation).
I agree that I have the presumption of innocence in a court of law, but I've had to many "guilty until.. hell he's guilty!" experiences with the police to believe it extends to them as well.
As a teenager I was detained several times for long periods with no more justification than the length of my hair or the piercings on my face. One cop even told me "White people only come to this neighborhood to buy drugs" and than threatened to arrest me if I refused a search of my vehicle.. for being white in a Mexican neighborhood.
You have no right to a presumption of innocence from the police and if they don't like the way you look you won't get it either.
People underestimate the knowledge of criminals. Long term criminals have a lot of knowledge, unfortunately it's usually limited to criminal acts. They also have what used to be referred to as street smarts.
With how simple it is to remove the engravings this would be common knowledge on the street. Kids will know this from grade school, thinking it's cool to share such knowledge. The media will happily ensure that all their viewers and readers know it as well, since it is both sensational and easy to understand.
To me gun control in the US is like getting the cat back in the bag. A gun free society may work in other cultures that don't have a fuck ton of guns already in circulation combined with a culture deeply rooted in utilizing them. That's not the USA however.
I don't mind guns, I own several rifles and a few shotguns and enjoy hunting and shooting. It wouldn't bother me if my neighbor owns fully automatic weapons (and they actually might!) but I don't want any artillery or explosives (especially propelled ones!) in my neighborhood.
On one hand there are a handful of people who find my weapons offensive, and on the other hand are a handful of people who want RPG's in an urban environment. I think both sides are insane and I don't see either one making much progress, to me they are just wasting a whole lot of time, money, and energy and don't want to encourage them at all by even engaging them.
The reality is that there are more people who want to be published than there are articles worth reading. Idealistically I would like to see a free to publish and free to access environment, but in an over-saturated market pay to publish can honestly improve the quality of submissions.
You don't have to be a "nerd" to appreciate the world around you. This is about educating children with technique and theory instead of just theory. It's about teaching children "This is how it's done and that is why it works." It is more interesting than "This is why it works."
Why should we have to eliminate federal funding if we tell them they should keep their noses out of our business?
Maybe we should eliminate federal taxes to!
People don't realize that it goes both ways. What would we do if a state who got tired of the hoops they jump through and decided to keep their money for themselves and use it locally? This is what should be happening anyway, but the political climate makes us so hateful of those around us we don't do what is best as a society.
What utter crap. I can see situations where head phones are a bad idea in a vacuum, but I know for certain I have done many jobs where their absence would have resulted in less productivity overall.
Has anyone ever done data entry? Especially for mind numbing shit like payment processing or taxes? There is no way in hell that half the drones I worked with could have done it without headphones. I know I wouldn't have been able to.
There are also those times when I'm working on a problem and hit a dead end. Music can stimulate my mind and keep me occupied while I'm brainstorming. There are many things I have an answer for that I'm not aware of immediately. Sometimes music is the lubricant my mind needs to put things together in a way that I'm consciously aware of the possibilities.

Speaking as someone who's house uses a lot of Netflix and little pirating 300 GB is a reasonable cap for today's standards.
I have 50mb from our local cable provider but have paid as much as $100 in overages when I've broke our ridiculious 100 GB cap. I hit 300 GB that month. It's only getting worse as I'm getting my parents, in there 60's, comfortable with VOD services.
We have 2 Roku 2s and a Logitech Revue, 8 PCs, phones, game consoles, the toaster mom had to buy from QVC might have requested an IP I'm not sure. My DSL provider only does 1.5mb in this area so I am grateful just to have a connection that supports this load even for the price I pay. But damn I'd love to have a 300 GB cap and would glady pay just $10 for each extra 50 GB.
The first link I clicked in this post was to the petition in support of him. I figured it was the least I could do.
Sadly when I clicked 'Sign' it asked me for my Facebook login. I don't use Facebook, but you might as well ask me for the passwords to my email or checking or any other account because you will receive the same refusal. I'm not comfortable with proving my login credentials to a 3rd party website.
As someone who successfully obtained porn when I was restricted to dialing up to my local BBS, ISP, and even AOL as a teen I know there were many ways to share porn.
Even if there is no way for it to show up on a search engine and you can't dedicate a website to it the kids on this network will still find a way to distribute porn to each other.

Is the weakening of the immune system a direct result of the exposure or a side effect of living in a sterile environment?

Pedantically speaking, smoking or burning anything causes some harm to anyone nearby. Lungs weren't really designed to inhale particulates.
They might not have been "designed to inhale particulates" but they are designed to deal with them.

I agree. This video isn't insulting, it's just silly.
Right. I was going to be the next Einstein, I just couldn't be bothered to get up in the morning. I'm really sorry but your excuse for not pursuing science further is shallow and hollow.
There is a BIG (huge, whopping, massive gap) between "more likely" and "tend to."
Or it's not an either/or situation and some people own multiple devices from more than category.
The stats make perfect sense if you allow for the possibility that some people own an Android tablet AND an iPad.

I didn't know Hitachi's HDD division was bought out by WD. This perplexes me because WD has a decent RMA process while Hitachi's is pure shit.
ARM is a fairly open architecture. If you want to create ARM chips you buy a frigging license.
How the hell can Intel be threatened by something that they can produce if they choose to?

This is where your social engineering skills come in to play. Blackjack is still beatable if you count cards and play the dealer at the same time.
