At any rate, I have worked in a web shop, that DID support FF, and Mac. It was difficult, to be sure, but we were able to get things right in both browsers. Sometimes that meant using the older tags instead of the newest ones, but we were able to do it.
I hope IE 8 does implement more standard behaviors. Until then, FF should keep fighting hard and trying to get market share. Ultimately, that may force the standards issues more than anything else.
Well, first I said "most." Second, it's possible he wrote incorrectly. He might mean "we only run required services."
But don't believe me though, go install Server 2003 R2 yourself. IIS either isn't installed unless you specify, or it comes locked down to server ONLY static content. (I know that latter part is the default IIS setup, because I had to go turn everything I needed on).
Sounds like you're being pretty foolish; you code to standards you know won't be honored on the most widely used browser. I'd target IE, and then make sure FF and other look fine.
First, most people won't know how to do that. Second, you're now locking out FTP clients by bundling one with the OS!!!! That's unfair competition to CuteFTP!
Um, this may shock you, but there are people that don't feel like they're being abused my MS at all. I'm actually liking their newest products quite a bit; that includes Vista, VS 2005/8, Office 2007 and server 2003, MS Money.
If you read the article (and many other sources) the problems with application compatability are the fault of the vendors which built the software, not MS. Its pretty simple; follow the rules for building software on a given OS, and your application will likely function fine through upgrades. Don't, and you'll have fix your software if you want it running on the newest version.
I know who she is; she hosts a G4 show, and does some gamer related "commericals" on G4 as well. I was suprised she was actually a gamer though; I thought she was a model they hired to keep guys interested in the show, but didn't think she was actually interested in games.
Well, when I click Get Started, I'm given two check boxes. If you can provide a link that says you only get free software (I actually don't see that anywhere from the link submitted) if you do the automated survey, I'd be happy to check it out.
In Vermont, it seems, especially on a four lane road (Williston Road and Dorset Street, South Burlington). Also to some extent in Rochester, NY. There though the intersections could be slightly bigger (2 left turn lanes, a right turn lane, and two straight lanes) and cops have to direct things to some extent.
In Vermont though, I suspect its because I live in Burlington, "the big city" and the country hicks simply don't know how to drive in a city. Outside of Burlington, there's a suprising number of dirt roads still. Bring your shotgun though.
Well, two flashing right lights side by side means Train crossing. Usually there's a cross as well.
One flashing red light (either single or because the light has malfunctioned) indicates you treat it as if it were a stop sign.
Further, usually a traffic signal which has lost power completely is treated as an all way stop for all roads intersecting, but few people seem to realize (or care) about this rule.
Where I have seen the fees posted are where they don't take credit cards, but do take debit cards and cash. Even though your debit card is a Visa, I think the fact it isn't a credit card is the reason they get away with it.
Good question, I don't know. If you don't use the Visa debit card as credit though, you're not using the credit network, you're using the debit one, so Visa terms probably don't apply. The debit networks are PLUS, STAR, etc.
It is a national brand. It's AM/PM along with Arco gas that has a nationwide as far as I can tell 45 cent transaction fee. It hurts them. I either buy with cash or buy elsewhere. I wonder if they make up for the lost business in fees?
I wouldn't shop there at all if that were the case, whether I have cash or not (I almost never do).
I've noticed. It's been replaced with the Notice due to rising CC charges by our bank we now have to charge a 0.45 to $2.50 transaction fee.
That's also against the rules.. I guess some places just like being fined.
Some places no longer take credit cards.
That's their choice. Of course then some people like me won't shop there anymore either.
It is cash or debit only and debit has a transaction fee.
For who? The merchant? They had fees with Visa as well. I'm not away of any bank that charges their customers to use debit at a POS transaction. If you do, please post the name so I don't waste time checking them out the next time I change banks.
They don't have to accept Visa at all. Its their choice. Just because they're small doesn't mean they can violate contracts whenever they want.
There are other benefits that many stores seem to forget; there's less cash on hand at the store, less to bring to a bank or have stolen. Some people like me don't use cash anymore, so if they refuse to take Visa, they lose 100% of my business.
Its not understandable; they basically want all the benefits without any of the cost. I don't sympathize with anyone that thinks that way.

I dunno, maybe the fact that the blog is by an employee working for MS TechNet. Hmm...
*sigh*
No, it couldn't actually be that I am someone who cares about my computer, and don't find the MS products I use to be crap. Noooo..
I develop software for a living. I even game MS the old boot and went to Linux for a bit.
I am sorry to tell you this. But you are rather bit in the minority.
Bull. If that were true, MS would have gone away a long time ago.
The new office is quite good. However, have you tried it on an Apple?
No, why would I? I hate using Macs.
There is a reason that 50 percent of Mac buyers are first time Mac owners.
Yes, because the market is so small. The question will be, how many will by ANOTHER mac?
Plus, Mac sales have increased double digits for the last 12 quarters.
What a meaningless statement. You give indication of you're talking about a perctange or absolute number.
Go long on apple stocks if you wish to increase your fortunes.
No thanks. Given how the iPhone has bombed, I don't think Apple is infallable.
More people are likely downgrading to XP than buying a Mac.

You realize that Win2k3 does turn off most services by default, and Win2k8 takes this even further by not installing them at all.
Uh, didn't I read an article not too long ago about how the update.microsoft.com site was broken into?
Link, please?
How many times have you seen the microsoft.com website down / hacked?

So it sounds like this is more *nix being replace with Linux than Windows replaced with Linux.
Ya, because we fixed broken legs SO much better before x-rays. You can stick with Civil War era medicine if you like, I'd rather have an x-ray.
Stop calling a parable a fallacy! Its not!
Perhaps that's my experience (and others) that when talking to a hot chick and moving the topic to games, their eyes roll and they stop smiling.. :-)
Anyway, go to any store that sells games (not now though). Do you REALLY see women spending a lot of time in those sections / stores?
I think your experience proves it... you shouldn't be driving a car. :-)

Tree...tree....three lefts make a right. I wanna go home.

Or you can take the option of just filling out an online survey.. but hey, why stop free bashing?
