    FCE has inexcusable technical faults though.

    The more resources they waste on such posturing instead of modifying their obsolete rules of operation, the more they will have to squeeze consumers to remain afloat; also laws lobbied being more ridiculous. The more attractive alternatives will become.

    Makes the probability of Big Media bubble bursting slightly more likely...

    It is nice though to have something sturdy. Something you don't have to care about at all. If only most rugged phones weren't hideously ugly or with very poor UI & functionality...

    Though luckily there are compromises like Nokia 3720 classic; both quite rugged and rather stylish

    See, you've fallen for this artificial categorization too (hey, it's profitable for producers/marketers, I guess...)

    The beauty of screens like Pixel Qi lies in approaching the clarity and readability of e-ink...while being just as good as normal LCD screen in things e-ink is a non-starter!

    They are perfect as the only screen for a laptop/tablet/etc.

    It's perfectly fair if that "3rd generation" product came out half a year before "disadvantaged" contenders.

    BTW, why only big touchscreen devices? There were supposed to be, y'know, cheap ones with Android by now.

    Build a list of potential employers, write nice CV/etc. to them; but one half of them (selected randomly) will get a "silly" e-mail address, while the other - "professional" one.

    Especially if enough of us will do this, we might get a pretty clear picture even from responses (it's not like you really must be looking for a job...or sending out real CVs with real data)

    Not exactly. The body that caused formation of the Moon likely formed in Earth L4 or L5 point; technically making it not a planet. Coming from there also gives less chance for axial tilt such wild as in the case of Uranus...

    Since it was already gravitationally bound with Earth, I don't think it changed its orbit in significant way.

    Never mind that dead tree format has indeed its advantages (price of e-books is ridiculous; without the possibility of libraries, lending and easy sale/buying of used books - and I don't have much problem carrying two or three, with great battery time)

    Consider a netbook (preferably with ARM cpu)...with Pixel Qi screen...in the form of a convertible tablet. What do you have in one of the modes? Oh, right, e-book reader.

    If only suitable for the "common man" is the thing, the goal...then I hardly see what's the point of TFS. There is such software already. Worse, this one seems to be basically a one-man effort which was rushed towards the magical 1.0 number.

    We see in the summary "e-reader", "e-book"...ignoring that those screens (well, at least Pixel Qi one, that I'm sure of) are great also as replacements for screens in netbooks (remember commercials of those depicting them on the beach, in the park or bright cafe?); generally any highly portable device.

    Those are the screens which were supposed to be in place all along. Finally we can have them. Who cares about e-book readers?

    For me the most amazing aspect of planetary migration is the probable exchange of order for Neptune and Uranus, with Neptune being thrown out to the position of outer planet; without it being ejected from the system, plunging into the Sun or colliding with other big body. Though who knows, perhaps some planet was doomed that way; certainly wild axial tilt of Uranus isn't a testament of calm times.

    I'm (yes, me; above was an impostor) dreaming on the higher plane on reality, which doesn't translate to REM state in this construct.

    Such things as cellphones were more or less much more gradually introduced in the US, it makes all the difference.

    It isn't about one particular tech, you must consider the whole landscape. In 1970 a family had striven to have their own freezer, radio (with few state run channels; the only non state one in understandable language was usually covered with interference), gas stove, washing machine, simple photographic camera, TV (with 3 channels max) and, the biggest luxury of all, a telephone (only local automatic exchange). Fast forward 20 years and it haven't changed at all.

    "Middle of the ground" apps of course, not the ones covering basic phone functionality (but - "smartphones" usually don't allow to access this too), but neither gimmicks/toys. Web browser most notably. Even things like gallery/media app aren't "native" (while this specific example isn't usually j2me AFAIK, it doesn't have much common with UI of the basic phone functionality; less than typical j2me app for sure)

    Hey, don't underestimate inquisitiveness of children; they can easily exhaust mental acrobatics of our set notions...

    Than you just admitted that SE A200 phones and Nokia S40 phones are smartphones. Part of the built in apps are in j2me. They are "first class" as regarded by manufacturer apparently, whatever that means.
